Any good places to buy a range at good prices?

7  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Fabric stores in Sydney on: July 17, 2006 03:52:20 AM
I was wondering if anyone could reccomend some fabric stores in Sydney (or NSW generally) other than Spotlight. I keep going to Spotlight but can never find what I am looking for and would like to try some different stores.

I was considering a trip to E & M Greenfield in Surry Hills and maybe also the fabric stores in Cabramatta. Has anyone ever tried these stores and have any feedback on the variety of fabric offered and general pricing? Spotlight pricing ishard to beat...

Considered using Knitwit for the knit fabric I am looking for but their prices were too expensive

As an idea of what I am looking for

cotton/ cotton blends with spots - like chocolate on pink or chocolate on black
knit fabric - camoflauge design and spots, stripes in candy colours

Thanks  Smiley

9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Industrial machine - help me through the maze! on: June 04, 2006 11:03:26 PM
Hi All

I'm just wondering anyone can direct me to a book or website that will help me decipher thew maze of industrial machines. I am looking for a second hand one to sew through heavy duty webbing, canvas but I am completely lost with all the terminology.

There are lockstitch, walking foots? Also the worlds dumbest question - how do you operate the manual ones?

Any tips on brands? There is a Brother on Ebay that looks quite good but not sure it is up to the heavy duty stuff I want to do and I am killing my heavy duty machine!!!

Really appreciate any help

Thanks
10  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Craft fill - anywhere cheaper than Spotlight on: May 11, 2006 02:14:19 AM
Hi all

I am based in NSW and I am looking for some cheaper suppliers of craft / polyster fill suitable for dog beds. I am making them for a rescue at the moment but might try sell some if they turn out well

To fill them buying supplies at Spotlight is really realy expensive and Clark Rubber is also not so cheap

Any ideas on where I can look

Thanks!!
