1  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Avast Men's Zip Sweater from Knitty on: December 27, 2007 06:15:04 PM
Well received!

I was worried that it wouldn't fit. I got gauge on size 4 instead of 7. While knitting it looked a little small, and after blocking it looked a little big, but it was just right.

This is the best thing (knit) that I've made so far.

More photos on Ravelry.

I finished in time for Christmas. This was a lot of fun to knit!

I just joined the sleaves and body and started decreasing for the yoke.

How's everyone else doing?

I anticipate the interminableness, but haven't reached it yet (only 2 inches up from the bottom so far).

I'll be feeling it by the sleeves, though.

I'll try to post a pic soon.

I'm also going to knit this for Christmas, for my FIL. I'm using Cascade 220 Superwash.

I've been swatching all weekend, but haven't made gauge yet. I tried 7 and 6, and just started a 4 (need to buy a size 5). As soon as I match, I'll cast on (here's hoping!).

That sweater's cute. I couldn't find your version in the kal, though (too many pages to sift thru). I think on it.

I never got around to posting it on the KAL, but if you are interested: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/603873hoursweater.jpg

I used it for the 3-hour sweater, but you may need a fourth skein depending on your size or how many mistakes you don't want to rip.

I used 4 skeins exactly but made a medium size (needles US 8, 11, and 10.5) and have an extra pair of too-small sleeves left over.

In my research I found magnet paper at several office supply stores online, but I stumbled upon it and ended up purchasing from Walmart.

I think it was almost $10 for 5 sheets (I saved the leftovers for drawing on later).

It was the Avery brand, and went through my ink jet printer easily.

I did read some reviews that warn against moisture (for all brands), but I didn't test it.

Thank you for all of the great comments.

Yes! The tuxedo was on my list, but I ran out of time before giving this as a gift.

Other ideas:
  • Towel around the waist
  • Blue and white striped sailing shirt from Major Tom episode
  • Accessories: Bowie knife, Monarch henchman mask, Led Zeppelin tattoo, cigarette, more blood splatters

Doc Venture is a good idea too! He would need his speed suit, Obi-Wan costume... the possibilities are endless!

Thank you for letting me share!!
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Brock Samson Magnet Paper Doll on: June 21, 2007 10:08:15 AM
Inspired by Venture Bros. episode Victor. Echo. November.

I glued an image of Brock Samson to a metal shingle.

Printed clothes on magnet paper and cut out.

Stick and enjoy.
