2  " Monster high themed " childrens lab coat in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by violentjayne on: December 24, 2014 12:50:11 AM
Hello every one Im just finishing up this lab coat for My friends 7 year old daughter for Christmas . She is into "mad scientist " things and of course Loves monster high . Her mom asked Me to combine the ideas and make her a pink  Monster high  " Style " lab coat . I think I did pretty Good for My first time making a lab coat . I made the sleeves so they could be worm coffed of uncuffed to suit her arm length . Its fully lined . The only "seam  " visible is the armpits which are of course zig zagged to finish . I still need t add the button and the monogram " I" for her name .

I didnt want to do the exact monster high lab coats . We wanted it to be more like A real lab coat with big pockets , and it had to be pink ( So I tried to match the pink to a color used in a lot of Monster high stuff ) . The sugar skull fabric I picked because its pretty and I think it suits the theme . I lined the sleeves with silky black
Id love feed back and will update pics in a few days after she gets it .

monogrammed and buttonhole / button sewn

Have a great night and Merry Christmas

a quick peek at My new sewing room and dining room walls ...watermelon pink sewing room with sewing pattern upper walls and geometric ombre plaid dining room . for BOTH rooms this project cost about 40 $ total and I still have enough supplies to do so much more .... patterns free , tissue paper 15 $( But I have left over for b days for the next ten years Wink ) 12 $ for a gallon of Elmers glue  ( used a little less than half the gallon for both rooms ) still got glue for projects for the next ten years too Wink and a 13 $ bottle of polyurethane ( again still have half the container left ) simply paint roller the watered down elmers onto the wall .. paste on your tissue then go over with the same glue and roller mix ( 2 - 3 coats ) then after its good and dry one coat of Polly ( Id do 3-4 coats of this were a childs room where walls get touched alot )

the pink is so bright it really does a number on flash and its hard to gt the true color

One of My new New fringe tanks . To wear over Bandeaus or bikini tops . I have several more including t shirt versions with various neck lines in lots of colors Ill be posting soon
I kept the original hems on this and didnt cut the fringe all the way thru . This allows  it to  keep its shape and prevents it from slipping off the back and shoulders .

9  Aquarium stand turned plant holder in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by violentjayne on: June 11, 2014 01:58:37 PM
I made a quick diy plant stand from a recycled old wrought iron aquarium stand thats been hanging around forever ! , 1$ floral wire and 3 dollar store planters ! I love it , Now I just need some more plants for it and to decide what to do with the bottom ( more planters or plant directly in the soil ..?) .. this section of our yard near the pond We plan to use bricks or landscaping timbers filled with pea gravel to make a little sitting area . ...note the planters were too small squared up so I placed them on the diagonal and used wire to secure them in place

I love making use of items that might  otherwise end up in the trash
Thanks for looking and have a great day

10  (Updated pics )Horse trough container gold fish pond/ fountain in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by violentjayne on: June 10, 2014 09:07:49 PM
Hi everyone

Im really excited to share My Gold fish pond made from 90 % recycled materials . My Mom was moving and cleaning out her old property . I quickly called dibs on a 200 gallon stock tank metal horse trough , and 2 decorative barrels from a broken fountain , I got the antique sink sport for 2 dollars at a garage sale and all the rock and brick used ( besides pea gravel ) was recycled and re claimed !  The biggest cost was 100 $ for the " pond lit" which included a huge liner , 300 gallon power head and 3 lead lights ( A good deal considering a pump alone is 40 -60 . ) We needed the liner because My Mom had  used the trough for a tomato planter and  it had a 2 inch drainage whole . I am showing alot of progress pics here . in the final pic its the pond as of tonight . The surround still isnt 100 % finished because a friend is tearing down a cobble stone and marble fire pit very soon  and letting us salvage the materials so We are planning to make a marble ledge covering the liner bits .. for now I started placing flatish cobble stones to give a general idea

I re-placed the cobble stones and the plants are getting bigger

pic from tonight

progress pics

Thanks so much for looking and Id  be glad to answer any questions and Ill upload more progress pics .. ID love to see your DIY ponds as well !
 Have a great night
