1  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Unique Swap! Please help a fellow craftster out on: May 09, 2007 09:03:38 AM
Hello.

My name is Stacy and I am hoping to find someone in Australia to help me enter a lottery there for a doll.  I would be able to paypal you, and I can swap with you some goodies (of course I would pay for the doll if you did win).  Things I can swap are - something sewn, handspun yarn, knitted goods, and last but not least jewelry.  Or if there is anything specific just ask I am desperate for one of these dolls and would really appreciate your help.

Please PM me or post here if you can help a fellow craftster out

Thank you in advance

3  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / NO spinning for at least one month!!!! on: April 24, 2007 04:39:56 PM
 Sad

My house got flooded while we were visiting family.  We had a slow leak and it ruined every level of our home (that has been remodeled within the last 6 months by the way).  I will have to stay away for a month without my wheel.  I am so sad I cannot spin to relieve my stress.  I just gave away my spindle to share with someone who wanted to spin, so I do not even have one of those...

Good lesson learned - the plastic bins ARE THE BEST WAY TO STORE FIBER!  Luckily nothing major was lost, but I will now store fabric in the bins as well.  Lost a ton of silk.

Second lesson - the messier you leave your house the more likely a major catastrophe will happen that will cause many people to enter and see the shame.

So no fiber fridays for me this month.  Sad  I will have to drool over everyones amazing pictures.
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Where to find Blythe/Pullip dolls on: March 20, 2007 06:02:19 PM
Okay so I am VERY new to the doll scene, but I am smitten by these little creatures and am dying for one.  Does anyone have any information on where to find these?  I guess I need to know where to start.  What to look for, and what to look out for.

Thank you for any help you have!
5  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Another Newbie with First Handspun! on: December 10, 2006 11:37:14 AM
I would love some helpful comments.  This was my first handspun ever on my new wheel.  I decided to ply it so I would not have pooling.  I have 83 yards of this and 37 more of a single (one bobbin was fuller than the other) The single I need to set the twist.  I will set the twist with this puppy but it hang surprisingly straight.  I was dancing around after that!  Also - I may be getting a real lazy kate for christmas so I expect that will help with the plying...I just used the bobbin holders...so there were a couple of times with issues...but overall I am proud.  Grin

I also posted a picture of the new wheel and her handpainted side at least on the blog.  Cheesy
6  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Spinning Singles Qustion on: December 09, 2006 07:29:48 AM
Sorry if this was covered before the Search Deamon is down and I went back 8 pages w/o an answer.

So here is my question - if I am spinning singles do I need to do a counterclockwise twist or clockwise?  I see a ton about S twist and Z twist, but honestly I am pretty confused about the pros and cons of each and when to use one or the other.

Thanks for any help you have ladies!
7  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Question for those with a Suzie/Majacraft on: December 04, 2006 09:19:05 PM
I am not sure if the other Majacraft are the same, but I have a question about my Suzie Pro.  The flyer head comes unspun when going counter clockwise - was there supposed to be a bolt in here for this?  I just got my wheel this afternoon and I am spinning but I am noticing that the flyer will come unspun at times.  Please advise.

Thanks ladies.
8  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / How do you Answer this Question? on: November 25, 2006 05:36:40 AM
Why don't you just buy the yarn?

Why don't you just buy the sweater?

I think I have the sweater answer down, but the yarn answer I only have - BECAUSE I WANT TO DO BOTH!!!

Note this answers could be used in playful sparing with my dear husband   Cheesy Grin
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Need help with open stitch pattern on: August 01, 2006 03:39:06 PM
I have 2 balls of yarn in my stash that I want to do a shrug with.  The balls area  mere 100 yds each of heavy worsted Sad so I am trying to find a stich pattern that is REALLY open and uses not that much yarn in comparison to the area it covers.  Does anyone have a suggestion?
