41  Katamari Damacy inspired necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by RachOfTheJungle on: May 25, 2005 11:00:03 AM
Hey for any of you who love the odd yet wonderful Japanese PS2 game Katamari Damacy you should make one of these:

For those of you unfamiliar with the game, check out this:

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/548/548201p1.html

Pretty much you roll up random objects with a Katamari (or clump). That is what the centerpiece is, a lampwork Katamari-looking bead. The other stuff is the random objects you collect throughout the game, including a thumbtack, a crab, flower, butterfly, etc. It is easy to make and a fun way to show you're a fan of the game!

I'm trying to sell it on ebay. No bids so far, but if I have to keep it I won't cry!!!

42  metalworking/making your own settings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by RachOfTheJungle on: April 26, 2005 09:21:05 PM

NEED. TO. HAVE. THIS.

Unfortunately, it's a one of a kind piece of artwork (circa early 1900s) and certainly not for sale.

I need to find out how to make this myself, or find someone who could.

NEED!!!!!!!!!!!

Any leads?

43  Painted Squid hoodie in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by RachOfTheJungle on: April 08, 2005 09:35:36 AM
I painted this hoodie for my (now-ex) boyfriend the christmas before last. I totally forgot about it until I saw him wear it recently. I took pics and thought I'd share them with you guys:

I just used regular old Tulip fabric paint and applied them with a paintbrush. Even though it has really small detailed paintbrush strokes it has held up against washings (turned inside out).

I'm thinking of making a couple more for this artsfest I am having next saturday, what do you think?

44  Re: $10 or less swap gallery in The Swap Gallery by RachOfTheJungle on: April 08, 2005 09:30:29 AM
Sorry for the delay w/the pics, guys. I am terribly sorry for holding the voting up.

Anyway, here is the cool stuff littlemissdogooder sent to me! I think she was super-creative with the small budget:

I got:

*a journal decorated with cool stuff, like vintage lace!
*a jeweled picture holder (bling!)
*dice earrings (I'm wearing them right now, everyone loves them!)
*a romance comic barette (so fun!)
*romance comic pin (on my purse right now)
*and to top it off, a lovely windchime!

My friends all love the romance comic stuff. My friend Steph wants to know where you got the nifty comics.

Thanks again, littlemissdogooder, for the awesome stuff!

:::DANCE DANCE DANCE DANCE::::::

DARIA YOU RULE!!!

I was so elated to get your package, the stuff is sooooo great! What a happy suprise your package was (just got it 30 min ago) and everything was wrapped up all pretty, I felt like it was my birthday!

Anyhoo, check out what she made me, guys!

*a tshirt that says "No one wears brighter socks and snappier ties than Freddy Fox"
*a bunch of cool cards with neat artwork on them (she said some of them are random 3rd grader's work, very cute!) including envelopes!
*handknit dishcloths, which are so beautifully knit there is no way I am going to dunk them in nasty dishwater. Maybe I'll hang them up or make a pouch out of them, they're too nice for housework!

I am wearing the tshirt, which fits me perfectly and I love it.

Thanks again Daria, for your generosity and the time and thought that went into my lovely gifts.

-Rach

PS I got another idea for something to send you, so I think you'll get another package from me sometime ;-)

48  Re: Joann's yarn in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by RachOfTheJungle on: March 02, 2005 08:28:39 PM
Hey guys, dunno if this is of interest...

there is a yarn that I got @ michaels called "Moda Dea Cache" by coats. It's HOT! I got 2 skeins of it, and it reminds me of Licorice yarn (which I totally love!) except it comes in waay more colors. There's also a hint of shiny thread which is nice. Here's a pic of some of the colors:

It's 70 percent wool. I haven't knit with it yet but I'll let you know how it turns out.

PS Yardage is comprable to Licorice too.

49  Rat Birthday Cake in Dessert by RachOfTheJungle on: January 31, 2005 10:06:19 PM
Okay so this is kind of a combo of baking, sculpture, and painting:

For my rat-obsessed roomate's 21st b-day I made her this cake, of her 2 beloved pet rats Ula Mata (Hawaiian for Red Eye) and Deluxe "feasting" upon her birthday cake.

(there's Ula checking out the cake with her on it!)

First, I made a regular box cake. Then I ripped chunks of it out to look like it had been partially eaten.

Then, I covered the remainder of the cake in icing and decorated it all boring-like. I pinched the icing at the edges to look bitten.

I made the rats out of brownies sculpted in the shape of rats. Then I covered them with rolled fondant (a kind of icing) and painted them with icing color paste.

Finally, as a last touch, I made little rat turds out of brownies. She LOVED it. It's my first real decorated cake. What do you think?!

50  MURAL MADNESS in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by RachOfTheJungle on: December 11, 2004 10:10:44 PM
OKay so murals are my favorite thing ever...

I started this one in my parent's bathroom before I left for college 2 1/2 years ago and it's still unfinished, but no one knows that but me :-D

This is a beach scene I did for my friend a few years ago:

And this is what started it all: my old bedroom(I did it in 9th grade, so the quality of the painting is a little, umm, crappy.

I like, totally put these pimp-ass glow-in-the-dark animal eye stickers I got from the Nature Company. They had tons of cool species, and you couldn't notice them in the light, only after the lights were off. It was cool. My ceiling looks like the night sky and has asstons of g.i.t.d. stars and a moon (and a spaceship!)

Also I was obsessed with the x files and like a huge dork I wrote "the truth is out there" in glow-in-the-dark letters. you can kinda see it. Please don't make fun of me  Cry)
