1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / How do you organize your collections? I'm an Elvis Hoarder...PLEASE HELP! on: June 01, 2011 04:51:21 PM
I pretty much LOVE Elvis.  There is no denying it.  Christmas and Birthday's are always FULL of Elvis gifts.  I've been to Graceland-- the whole nine yards.

I recently tried to down-size on some of my collection-- a girl I worked with also loved Elvis so I gave her some of my stash.  However, I am left with numerous tin signs, two large posters, about 9 8x10 photographs, a vintage magazine, a framed record, a beanie baby and a couple of postcards.

I live in an apartment in a tiny room, and I am so overwhelmed.  I feel like it all looks scattered about.  I don't mind displaying my love for my favorite artist, but I don't want my entire room to look like a SHRINE.

Anyone have suggestions or tips on what they do with their collections?
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / my holy hoodie is no longer drafty! :) on: January 10, 2010 11:48:46 AM
ok, so i got this really-super-warm-beautiful-chocolate brown hoodie a couple of years ago, and the first time i ever wore it i burned a hole right through it! (don't ask...)  fast forward two years and i'm still only able to wear it around the house over my pajamas because if I go outside in this thing with a ginormous hole in the front, it gets a tad bid drafty.  well, i found less than a yard of this beautiful gray blue fabric in my stash, and i decide to make my hoodie wearable again.  so i cut out some bird silhouettes in the fabric, and hand sewed 'em on!

right under this bird on the branch is where the huge hole was.  you can't even tell now that it was there!

i really need to lint roll this and get the little pieces off that frayed everywhere!

if anyone knows of anything i can do to stop the ends from fraying anymore please let me know! i tested out some extra of this fabric and tried the whole "lightly burn" the edges trick, but the entire piece caught on fire, so i don't wanna do that.  (i'm beginning to think me and fire just dont work well together.)  I like the edges a little frayed how they are, but if i wash it i don't want it fraying anymore!

cc welcome! Smiley
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / wall mural yay! on: August 26, 2009 11:19:40 AM
heres a project i painted for a youth group in my home town.  its about 3 feet by 3 feet and this is just the model for the big one that i'm going to do on the wall.

the tab on the very left side is actually suppose to be aligned with the bottom of the top square. does that make sense? haahaa

comments and criticism totally welcome.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Go MAVS! on: July 05, 2009 10:08:28 PM

5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / Framed Scrapbook Page! on: July 05, 2009 10:05:59 PM
I actually made this for my sisters graduation present.  It was a shadow box/ scrapbook frame that i found for 50% off at hobby lobby!  I got a lot of pics of me and my sis and made this huge collage and added pins, and fabric, jewels and rearranged them and everything to get this masterpiece  Tongue haahaa

the little jewels you see around the pictures were not connected on a strand...they were all individual and took a LONG time to put each individual one into place...but i think its worth it! Smiley

I think I may go back and add a little something in the space to the left of "sisters" just because it looks plain....any suggestions?
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Go Team! on: July 05, 2009 09:57:56 PM
My boyfriend coaches a basketball team and I was gonna go to one of his games, so being the awesome coach's girlfriend that I am  Wink I decided to make a shirt to support the team.

I got this huge plain red Tshirt...painted the team name with some flames on the front....cut it up so it fit me and cut a little v in the collar.

His team is not the fastest, biggest, or strongest, but he always encourages them to hustle, and PLAY WITH HEART! so i decided to put that motto on the back~!

sorry about the cell phone pics...my DC is broken Sad
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Home Sweet Gnome! :) on: July 05, 2009 09:50:49 PM
Soooo first of all a little history behind this yard gnome.  My boyfriend told me that if he ever got his own place with a yard the one thing he would want would be a yard gnome!   Well when he finally got his own place (he was living with his bro) he FORGOT to get a gnome...lucky me, it was the PERFECT house warming present.  He LOVES the dallas mavericks so i made him a little maverick gnome.  I found the gnome for 50% off at JoAnn's and repainted him to the maverick colors, I made the sign he holds because the mav fans call themselves Rowdy, Loud, and Proud!  (Previously the little guy was holding a butterfly net)  The little snail is an inside joke...but still cute none the less!! Smiley

Enjoy! and sorry about the cell phone pics i broke my DC ....  Sad

8  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Scrapbook > Broken Heart on: June 04, 2009 11:35:36 PM
ok, so is it sad that i'm more worried about my scrapbook and what to do with it than the fact that a year long relationship ended? : S

background:  i have what i call my "running" scrapbook that is kind of like a yearbook for each year.  I'm a little behind on some of the events from the past couple of years, and unfortunately some of those include my ex boyfriend.  I still want to scrapbook these events because some of my other friends are in them to and it includes some of the first years of my college career.  BUT I'm dating someone new now and I don't want to hurt his feelings by suddenly scrapbooking my ex (i know i would be upset if i saw pics of his ex), and I also don't really care to include the pics of the other dude.

anyway...does anyone have an idea of what i could do about this?

10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / HELP! 21 and need ideas! UPDATE: *NEW PICTURES OF FINISHED PARTY!!!* on: March 05, 2009 09:34:39 AM
Since I was little I've been collecting pink elephants, so with my birthday coming up, when I found some pink and brown invitations with pink elephants on them, I knew it was meant to be.  I'm turning 21 and figured the pink elephants totally fit in with the occasion..heehee!  Anyway I want to keep with the pink and brown theme...I just dont have very many ideas for decorating.  We will probably have a few tables, the tables with the food on them, a dance floor, a stage(I'm having a musician come play), and then of course wall space...if you have any ideas, please feel free to help me out its coming up really soon!

this is the banner i painted! i got a thick poster board type thing from hobby lobby its like 18X36 inches or something like that.

this is the ribbon i got to hang it with! i'm just gonna tie it in a cute bow. Smiley

YAY!

finished product!
it took me forever to get these up here but here they are!

this is the present table where i set up my collection of pink elephants and asked everyone to right me a note on little pink elephants that i made!

this is the stage, and some seating, i asked my dad to make me some saw dust on the floor so that everyone could dance!

this is the table where we had the food set out, also you can see the margarita machine on the right!

some tables for people to eat, and my poster and pretty lights in the back! also you can see a space heater because it was so ridiculously cold that night!

SOPAPILLA cheescake was my bday cake!

TACO bar!

anyway, not too exciting pictures but the party was really awesome! Smiley thanks to everyone who helped with ideas! I did end up wearing a brown dress with pink shoes, put out my pink elephants, cut out pink elephants, the pink marshmellows dipped in chocolate were such a hit! thanks again! Smiley
