1  Re: Gathered Roots - An Herbalism Swap R2 (Gallery) in The Swap Gallery by geckochan on: April 21, 2010 05:35:28 AM
Ooh, that liqueur sounds amazing and delicious! Super stoked to try it now!

I took a few pics before I sent, but need to dig out my camera's cable, so for now I'll just put up the item that I have on my laptop atm:

I wanted to do some art based on brokenporcelaindoll's favourite herbs, and try and portray their personality with fairly contemporary clothes styles, etc. I sadly ran out of time for lavender, although I had fun with these so will probably do a few more! For the package, I did hibiscus and rosehip.

I received a huge and amazing box of goodies in the mail from brokenporcelaindoll!

There was a whole selection of herbs (including some I've really been wanting to try!), a *beautiful* charm bracelet, rosemary sugar scrub (made with rosemary from her mom's farm in Spain!), really rich lavender moisturizer, beautiful terracotta closet butterflies, a stack of five amazing scented lipglosses (anise, lavender, basil, mandarin and rosemary),  seeds with awesome handpainted pots with their names on them, a bottle of lovely herby bits that is now prettying up my bathroom, and handpainted cards with all the notes on them!

We also both added an extra to the packages for our respective SO's, and mine was amazed to get the awesome rocket bag at the back there! It's all patchworked inside with retro rockets and numbers. Off-topic for the swap, but *had* to be photographed.

But what is this? The bracelet has a secret! A locket with solid perfume in - a lovely woody scent inspired by the blends on ForStrangeWomen's Etsy shop, which were on my wists! So clever

The butterflies, and the lovely art

The lipgloss tower and awesome pots.

Can't believe this was brokenporcelaindoll's first swap! Was totally spoiled and blown away. Thank you!! <3

Wow, this has been an *amazing* swap! I love Crafty.Canadian's mug, and the book purse is wonderful, and that display cabinet from craftewoman is so lovely! And weet!'s cardinal hat is wondeful.

I received an *amazing* package from Lunique! She totally spoiled me. It was like Christmas.

Everything:

Amazing handpainted bird matroshka set, cruelty-free feathers from when her dad worked at a zoo (the big one is a pen!), lovely dove earrings, a set of metal pins, awesome fortune cookie dangler, tiny crow (because they're a favourite of mine!) in it's own little drawstring bag, and an awesome vintage Dutch children's book!

Closeup of beautiful hand-painted bird matroshkas!

They are: a crow, a kingfisher, a bluethroat, a great tit, and a tiny little robin! <3  They're so well painted!

Closeup of pins, earrings, crow and fortune cookie

My favourite page of the book!

I'm contemplating trying to scan this at super-high res so I can print it larger on fabric and make a pair of cushions...

Many thanks to Lunique for spoiling me with an amazing package!
And to craftewoman for organizing an awesome swap ^_^

Wow, loooved the Elvis potholder, and the reversible apron!

Here be my awesome package from our lovely organizer ShesAZombie!

In picture: awesome message board (I love the fabrics you've combined!), colourful crochet coasters and table runner, reusable rubber cupcake cups (I've totally been wanting some of these!), and probably my favourite, a hand-painted plate declaring my kitchen as my diner! ^_^

Thanks so much for the awesome package! I'm moving soon, so getting awesome stuff for the new place is perfect! Yay ^^

Took a bit to get pics, but here's my fantastic package from zombiecazz!

Some *gorgeous* handspun yarn - am considering making hairfalls out of it, although that's a bit scary since then it's all cut! But I think it'd look really pretty ^_^

She also learned how to make kanashi and made me some! They're gorgeous ^_^

Thanks  so much! zombiecazz!

Package that we thought had got lost in the mail! So glad to find it safe and sound ^_^
Lovely cloth liners from AbbyRose - I should've opened one up for the photo, they've got lovely hand-dyed bamboo fleece as the top layer! And some lovely tea to try ^_^ Thanks AbbyRose!

I received an amazing package from spectrumsparksie! (ps wow, amazing fiber stash from Velvet Rose!)

She claimed me for some steampunk jewellery, and sent a whole matching set - necklace, bracelet and earrings!
She also added some gorgeous aqua fabric and kanzashi supplies (which I'll be using in my wedding dress! ^_^)

Here's a couple of shots of the lovely double-sided necklace (with some da Vinci for good measure! ^_^):

Thank you spectrumsparksie! Totally awesome mail!

I'm 5/5 as of Friday! I'm sorry to my senders for the wait in putting up pics. Real life, etc (my graduate art show just opened at university on Saturday! yay!  Grin )

Here's a family picture:

novastarlet's cupcake pouch, PenGwend's milk carton pouch, foolily's passport cover, Saor's felt flower pin, and Avian Flight's handmade knitting needles.

And here's a closeup so you can see the little cakes on top of the needles!

Everything is seriously amazing - beautifully made, and very special ^_^ Thank you all!

Yeah, it usually takes a while for me to get things up here. It's a Canada Post thing.  I'm still at 1/5 - but as long as it gets where it's meant to get safe and sound, that's the important thing!

Anyhow, while I watch my mailbox like a vulture for more lovely packages, here's my cupcake pouch I received from Novastarlet last week!
Also in the picture are some postcards which we PS'd (and the adorable stationary insisted on being in the picture too!

It's so awesome! Even the lining is gorgeous. It's helping me keep all the little purse things organized so I can just switch it from one bag to another!
Thanks again novastarlet Grin

Yesterday I received yet another package in the mail! I'm so spoiled  Grin I'm still behind on posting pictures, so here are the last two packages:

Star217 sent me some roving so I can try some wetfelting (so exciting!) - and she included some koolaid in case I wanted to try dyeing as well (two crafts for the price of one - awesome!)

And yesterday, I received a beautiful cloche from ss9901. She even made the flower a pin since she wasn't sure if I wanted one (so I can wear it on other things too!) Lame action shot:

This swap was *awesome*. Once school ends I should be a non-birthday swapper in another birthday swap to pay back some of the truckload of crafty goodness that got sent my way. Thank you all so much!
