21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Idea: trade my craft on: January 30, 2008 09:44:48 AM
This idea came to me in the givers and needers swap. What if you have craft supplies from one type of crafting but would love to try a new craft. For example maybe you tried cross stitch and decided it wasn't your thing or you don't want to do it anymore but you bought all the supplies. Now you want to try....I don't know.. rug hooking but you don't want to spend a ton of money on all the supplies to try it.
How about a swap were you trade the supplies you have for one craft for a different one?

Just an idea.
22  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: The Givers and Needers Swap -FULL - Closed Early, Thanks Everyone! on: January 30, 2008 09:38:54 AM
Can't wait to see who I'm sending to. This was such a great idea. I have to much stuff from crafts I don't do anymore but I want it to go to a good home not just be tossed. I'm really excited to see people who need it and want it.

what yarn did you use?
I made an enourmous mistake  :'(trying to do the pattern without the cable needle and had to frog. So...maybe the cable needle isn't so bad.

This sounds like a fun swap. How much time would we have though? I have so many holiday gifts to make I'm trying to plan my time carefully.
26  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Letterboxing Swap? on: October 22, 2007 04:28:51 PM
My family and I have been letterboxing for several years now but it's starting to die out around here. We have used the big white erasers to make stamps they work pretty well. I think if you do make yourself a stamp or if you already have one you should include a stamped image in your swap.  I know technically it doesn't count as a find but it does count as a trade.

It's going pretty slow for me. I love the hat though so hopefully I get faster with the pattern. Anyone know away to do it without the cable needle ? That's what's slowing me down.

I just cast on a few minutes ago and I'm using Merino 5 by crystal palace yarns. It has different shades of green. I hope it's not too busy for the pattern. A solid would probably be better but I really liked this yarn and thought it might be fun. I'll get a picture up as soon as I get to the pattern section.

I love this hat!! Its in the new IK holiday issue. It's a pattern by Jared Flood, who is one of my favorite knitters.
Anyone planning on knitting this up?
