1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Yarn substitution for Rowan Calmer on: June 26, 2007 05:47:09 AM
I want to knit Fifi, the new SKC knit, but Rowan Calmer (though I'm sure it's great) is just a little too pricey for me. Any suggestions for a substitution?
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / FO - Bella Blouse on: June 18, 2007 05:17:02 PM
I didn't see too many people knitting the Bella Blouse from IK's Summer issue (the free pattern). I tried starting a KAL but no takers. Well, I love it! Here it is:

Apparently, I need to add some more info to this post - well, there isn't much more but here's what I can tell you. I used Lion Brand Microspun in turquoise - the finished piece is a bit more drapey than the original appears in the pattern but I like that. I constructed it in the round instead of in pieces because I don't like to seam. I left off the sleeve inserts mostly because I liked it without. The only problem I had with the pattern was the yo called for at the beginning of the purl sides on the chart. I couldn't get the hang of it so I did yo at the end of the knit side and then slipped the first stitch on the purl side. Worked like a charm.

If you would like to see a modeled shot or a shot of the detail, please feel free to visit my blog. But don't feel like you have to visit my blog http://www.knitsawrap.blogspot.com/2007/06/bella-isimo.html - it's just an offer. All other info is right here on this post.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Top-down NON raglan sweater??? on: June 18, 2007 11:16:36 AM
Any one know of a free pattern for a top-down sweater knitted in the round that is NOT a raglan? Or know how to set up a sweater for top down that's not raglan?

I love top-down sweaters in the round because I love the fact that there are little to no seams. But, I'd like to knit something other than a raglan. Any ideas?
4  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Bella Blouse - IK Summer 2007 on: June 07, 2007 08:12:35 AM
Anyone else knitting Nora Gaughan's Bella Blouse, the free pattern from IK's Summer 2007 issue? I have finished the body and I'm currently working on the neck inserts. I'll post photos soon.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Non-original, Original Summer Sweater on: May 15, 2007 08:15:40 AM
So when is a sweater an original design vs. a tweaking of a pattern? I ask because I just finished a sweater that is sort of a combo of two sweaters. I've used the measurements and general style from the top of the Simple Knitted Bodice and for the bottom, I used a stitch pattern that I did on a child's cardigan (Tater's Cotton Cardi). Here's is the result:

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Favorite FO for little girl on: January 30, 2007 07:55:15 AM
My friend just adopted a little three yo girl from Viet Nam and she's just as cute as can be. So I finally got to knit a cute little girl's cardigan in pink. Love how it came out. Pattern is from Marie Grace Smith on Garter Belt. It looks like it was very hard but it's not.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Scatter sweater complete on: August 21, 2006 06:30:25 AM
When I saw this original design posted on Saunshine's site, I just knew it was for me. I highly recommend the pattern - the fit is great and the pattern looks difficult but in fact is very easy. More details and photos on my blog:

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Regine is complete! on: July 06, 2006 05:36:58 AM
I love finding great patterns online and this one caught my eye when I was looking for a sweater that incorporated some lace. I shortened the sleeves to make them 3/4 length but other than that I stayed pretty true to the pattern. See more detailed photo on my  blog: http://www.knitsawrap.blogspot.com/2006/07/regine.html
