2  a sketchbook for my boyfriend in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by viburnum on: July 27, 2005 05:15:21 PM
Hello

Seeing all the cool bookbinding around here, I decided I must try! So, I just finished my first journal Smiley actually, more of a sketchbook made for my boyfriend (i do hope he'll find use for it.. mostly he prefers to draw in he's torn-out notebook..). It's still empty, I'll add some kitschy-bla later  Tongue haha.
I'm thinking of adding some sort of cover/bag for carrying-protection, since he's a solider, and a very messy one.. just haven't thought through this idea enough. If you have any suggestions I'd be thrilled to hear..

Here are a bit too many pics of it ( I'm pretty exited! my first book turned out nice Grin) :

First journal and all, I've have pretty big trouble with the glues I tried... On one hand they kept dripping through the paper cover, despite me putting on a really heavy cover paper a really thin layer of glue  (I tried Elmer's glue, and some weird varnish-glue, which i laid off pretty fast), and on the other hand they didn't get a good grip of the paper... What kind of better-than-Elmer's-glue do you use for this purpose?
Plus, I learned that if I buy heavy handmade paper for a cover, I'll regret it later when trying to get it to glue on my cardboard/fold easily when i want it to... but it did turn out nice in the end.
I used the coptic stitch tutorial at http://personal.mem.bellsouth.net/d/r/drv1913/0204.html, but didn't glue the inner pages to the cover since i liked the brown paper I put there, plus, my glues suck.

Roll Eyes I love making little useless thing to send him in the mail (though I'll probably see him much before i get to finish making him a package  Grin)

3  Re: Lip Balm Holder Keychain... in Crochet: Completed Projects by viburnum on: July 10, 2004 04:26:10 PM
got my digi camera back from repair finally, so now i can start posting pics. yeyey!  Smiley

once again tnx Laamissa for the idea and pattern (mostly the idea since i modified the pattern to fit my yarn and lip balm..).

here's mine:

i altered the key chain to a crochet chain since didn't have time to go find one, plus i'm ok with just tying it to my jeans' belt-holding-thing Tongue .

4  pictures from my finale-project in art in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by viburnum on: June 14, 2004 07:48:12 PM
so while i'm waiting for my digi camara to come back from repair Cry , i realized i have a few pictures from my project in artwhich i finished about a month ago (almost done with 12th grade.. yey!) on my computer  Grin

anyways, the photos where humongous and i have been too lazy to resize them, but now i did (tried my best, though they are still pretty big..), and just uploaded them on photobucket.. original painting are pretty small (9*10, 41*33.5, 25*21.. exc.)

it's a kinda erspoetic(art that deals with itself)-selfportriat thing.. blah. that sounds so highfalutin (..? think thats the word im looking for.. at least that's what my dictonary sayed.. lol), but isn't really trying to be..  Undecided
..when convincing myself it's ok, i like it and am pretty proud of my accomplishment..

here's a pic trying to capture most of the work:

and 2 others:

won't put them all here since there are a lot..  Roll Eyes
so more pics of it can be found in:

done with my first post with pics  Grin hope they come out alright..
have a nice day  Smiley
