21  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Road to Golden, Fall 07 Knitscene on: September 01, 2007 08:52:04 AM
I think that's a good way to do it, superstitch - I've only ever done one other fair isle sweater in the round (Eunny's Deep-V argyle) & that's how it was done with that. What colours did you chose? I can't wait to see!!

woohooo pimpernel! In all honesty, I ran in to the most trouble when I was casting on... I kept twisting my stitches - so good luck!

Make sure you keep your receipt Superstitch! I've got a full 3 or 4 balls of yarn that I didn't use. (one each of the gold & dark purple colours & 2 of the MC) I'm taking them back so I can get yarn for the tangled yoke cardigan from the Fall IK Smiley

I love this blanket! I'm totally in - is the eco wool scratchy? I think this would make some nice christmas gifts...

You know, for those of you who are scared of colourwork but want to try it, this is actually a good place to start. There's only ever 2 colours per row, and since it's knit in worsted it goes much quicker than some other stranded patterns.

Thanks everyone!

It actually didn't take all that long to knit - about 3 weeks or so. It's knit in Worsted Weight so it goes pretty quickly.

Here she is!!!!!!!!! (I also posted on the completed projects page, so I'll only put one photo here)

The MC, dark purple, dark green & light green are all Ella Rae classic, the gold is patons classic merino & the light purple is Galway.

I'm not sure if the stitch counts for the neck are right in the instructions, they seemed way off to me so I just sort of went with my gut - I'm not even sure of how many stitches I ended up with, but it was definitely more than 78.

I'm totally in love with this sweater, I can't wait for the weather to cool down!!
30  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Road to Golden on: August 26, 2007 01:52:48 PM
I've finished my 'Road to Golden' from the Fall 2007 issue of Knitscene!

I love this sweater! I switched up the colours a little bit & added an extra chart repeat to the length since it would have been way too short.

I used Ella Rae Classic for the MC & the dark purple, the other colours are a mix of Galway & Patons Classic Merino. I can't wait for the weather to get cooler so I can wear this all. the. time.
