202  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: Not-Violet Beauregarde on: May 06, 2006 08:03:00 PM
I hope the pictures work now. (It's weird, because they showed up for me.) I uploaded them onto a different server.

If not, here are the links to the pictures:

203  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Not-Violet Beauregarde on: May 06, 2006 02:27:46 PM
My first (almost) finished project. I just need to add one more row of scallops and then I'll be done. It ended up being too big for me (hence why it might look a little funny in the photos), so I'm going to give it to a friend of mine. But yeah, I'm rather proud of it. I've never finished a crochet project in my life (probably because all I knew how to do before I got this book was to make boring rectangular scarves).

Since this was mainly a test project, I used this random 4-ply acrylic yarn that someone gave me 10 skeins of. I plan to make one I can actually wear, and have already bought yarn - Caron Simply Soft in country blue, with soft blue and white for the accent colors. I'm also working on other things at the same time (because I can't stick to just one thing, for some reason), so I'll post those as I finish them Smiley Hope you like!
204  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: Mint & Cream Violet Beauregard Skirt on: May 03, 2006 12:48:37 PM
I just bought a bunch of Caron Simply Soft for my skirt as well - country blue, soft blue, and white, so, denim-y colors. How do you like the feel of the material? I made another skirt using regular worsted acrylic, and it's pretty stiff, though, luckily, not itchy.
205  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: FO: sock monkey blanket on: April 30, 2006 04:15:48 PM
I used the same yarn the pattern called for, highly recommended.  I put a scalloped edge on instead of picot (seemed more fitting).  The hook size was incorrect in the pattern so the squares are a little looser than they should be, but I think it's okay.

Wait, so what IS the correct hook size? (Just so I know... I have a two-month old baby cousin for whom I would like to make this blanket, sometime in time for his first birthday.
206  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: Problem counting rounds for Yeehaw Lady on: April 23, 2006 07:23:38 PM
I'm trying to start this and I can't even get through round 1! I am completely confused as to what the second half of the instructions for round 1 means:

"Working across opposite side of foundation chain, sc in each of the next 4 ch, 4 sc in the next ch-3 space, sl st in next sc to join."

What is the opposite side of the foundation chain? Is it the reverse side (wrong side), or the complete underside? And I'm not sure what I did wrong, but when I "sc in each of the next 4 ch," I find that I still have one ch left over. I frogged it, like, a million times, and it's frustrating me. Help, please!

*EDIT* Nevermind. I'm a dumbass. I figured it out.
