3  Re: Givers and Needers Round 9 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by icebyrd67 on: April 20, 2011 11:35:16 AM
Being the craptacular partner that I am, I'm just now uploading pictures of my packages from my partners.  Even though i received ages ago....

From SciFunk

From StrawberryJeli

And i got a lovely necklace from Crymson for my thank you but I don't have a picture of it right now.  My sister borrowed it and i haven't seen her in days.

Thank you soooo much my lovely lovely partners!

Also, an Co-Org note, I know a bunchof people have sent and received in the last two weeks.  I'll update soon.  I'm bogged down with schoolwork (two weeks left in the term!) and i dont have the spare hours (takes me at least an hour and half) to update the front page but we are keeping track on our spreadsheet!

Soaps I made sometime last month.  They smell really yummy.

Olive Oil, Coconut oil, Crisco, some white mica colorant, FO (Oatmeal stout from Brambleberry), and crushed up oatmeal.  i didnt quite have enough for breakfast so into the soap it went.  =)

6  Oatmeal Honey and Dreamsicle CP Soaps in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by icebyrd67 on: March 19, 2011 04:46:05 PM
I soaped last week.  The scents are Oatmeal Honey and Milk and Orange Dreamsicle.

The Oatmeal Honey was made with Brambleberry's scent.  It's natural colored by the discoloration.  It was really soap and crumbly when i cut it so i ended up rebatching half of the 5 pound log.  =/  Its cut into little guest sized bars.  smells wonderful.

The Orange Dreamsicle is made with an FO from some company who's name i've misplaced.  Its colored with annatto which makes a lovely orangey yellow.  I seeped my annatto seeds in olive oil for like a week.  It was 3/4 of a vitamin water bottle.

Both soaps are made with crisco, olive oil, and coconut oil.  Please ignore Yhetti in the pictures.  He's a Little Visitor who helped me with the soap making.

I'm making a few more batches of soap right now.  Well, i have a rebatch batch of the oatmeal honey and i have a loaf of oatmeal stout (BB) in.  That one is one i'm really excited about.  I used leftover guinness stout at my liquid.  BTW, even with leaving the open bottle out for 3 days, refridgerating it for a week and then nuking it in the microwave, it still wasnt 100% flat.  Make sure your beer is really really flat if you use beer as a liquid.  I had a bit of a volcano isue.  Luckily, i used a tall pitcher for my lye mix.  lol.  I'll post that one up when its ready for slicing.

OMG!  i just realized that i never put on pictures of what saralaAnne made me!  I thought it did but i guess i just uploaded the picture to my facebook and not craftster.

She made me a lovely embroidered pillow that i still need to stuff.  I am far to lazy to go into the attic for my stuffing right now.  lol.

it is soooo completely me!  i love the simpsons and i was an english major as well as certified to teach english.  its PERFECT!

Yhetti went with me to my temple at the beginning of the month for Chinese New Years celebrations and got to see the dragon dancers!  I wish i had remembered to take pictures of him inside the temple but it was so crowded and...fire-y because of everyone lighting incense, i didnt even think about it!

This morning, Yhetti, Matthew (my coworker who goes out with me A LOT), and I went on a girl scout hunt.  We found them.  Matthew bought enough cookies to build a wall on his cubicle.  Yhetti was excited.  =)

9  Re: 11 Quilts in 2011 Quilt Along in Craftalongs by icebyrd67 on: February 22, 2011 08:15:20 PM
I'm going to join in on the fun in hopes of getting things done.  lol.  Here's my partial list for now:

1) baby quilt for kiernan along with all the bibs and burpcloths i promised months ago before he was born
2) Quilt for a top secret person whom i cannot elaborate on anymore
3) baby quilt for my sister's baby - need to find out if she's having a boy or girl first
4) pacman quilt for the mister
5) lap quilt for my aunt donna - telephone themed?
6) Table runner for anniversary dinner

I'll add more as i finish some off.  I'm trying not to commit to too much because its hard to have time for crafting when you work two jobs and go to school full time and am trying to plan a wedding....i wish days were longer.  then i could get my crafting in.

Crossed one off my list!  =)  I decided that we would eat dinner at a small two person table instead of the dinner table so i made a small piece to use.  After dinner, its going on my wall as a mini art quilt.

I learned that i suck at binding and need way more practice.

10  Re: Fake Swapping Craft-along (ongoing) in Craftalongs by icebyrd67 on: February 14, 2011 05:21:30 PM
My partner sent to me a few days ago but I kept forgetting to upload the pictures.  She made me a lovely red and white antro-inspired/this thread inspired necklace and a re-done ribbon wrapped bangle to wear out for my anniversary next weekend.  =)

If you noticed, she put the clasps on either end of the pom poms so that she could send me a bevy of pompoms later in the future and all i have to do is switch out the chain to make a "new" necklace.

Im going to join up to make something nice for myself.  i can never seem to craft for myself.

I'm icebyrd67
I'm joining the "Sweet and Easy Valentine's Day Swap Round 2" swap
i will make myself something to wear out to valentines/anniversary
this is due on Feb 7, 2011

i first need to figure out what we're doing that weekend to determine what i'm wearing.  then i'll either make a jewelry set or something....

gah my partner is completely late on this one.  fortunately, so am I.  We've allowed ourselves to extend send outs until Feb 14.  Since we both dont need our item until feb 25.  My partner tells me she's got a lovely idea for a craft right off of this thread.  She loves that pom pom necklace and thinks it would look beautiful in red or red/white stripe.
