3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Tin (wo) Man!! on: December 16, 2009 11:03:16 PM
Woah I'm posting this late.

This was my Halloween costume this year! I looked all over and finally found a fabric that was appropriately shiny. It is basically a draped dress with the straps giving it support.

The rivets were metal buttons that I found and spray painted a more silver color. The headband was my favorite part. I spray painted a funnel and super-glued it to a headband I already owned.

And the back:

Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the length but It ended right about knee-length.

As always comments and criticism welcome!!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Corset Dress on: December 16, 2009 10:51:04 PM
Hello everyone!

This is my first time making a corset and I am really happy about how it turned out!
The top part of the dress is sewn to the corset but the bottom is a separate skirt. I really wanted to have another tier in the skirt but I unfortunately ran out of fabric.

Sorry about the gross mirror pic.

I used this underbust corset tute to start and then just extended it upwards. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=323906.0

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Trashion Show Dress!! on: October 08, 2009 04:59:53 PM
So last semester Jay McCarol of Project Runway came to my school for a Q and A session. In honor of his visit the University Program Board put together a trashion show. (Clothes made out of trash or reused items.)

Here is my dress!! Big thanks to my friend for modeling it!

Here we are together

And here we are with Jay McCarol!

From the top down:

The headband is bicycle inner tube with a yoyo made of tablecloth.

The straps on the top were made from bicycle innner tubes, the bodice was made of seatbelts, the boobs were vinyl records and raffia placemats.

The bottom is made of a second hand table cloth, duct tape and the black part sticking out the bottom is crocheted vhs tape.

Even the shoes were bought from a second hand store and painted.

Comments and criticism always welcome!
