That's really awesome. Your own pattern?

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Lolita Skirt - anyone done anything similar? on: March 04, 2008 06:07:14 AM
Hello!

I saw this drawing of a girl in a really awesome skirt I'm thinking of trying to make, and was wondering if anyone's tried anything similar before? I had a quick search on craftster, but couldn't really find anything.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thats a really neat idea! So can you button them on, or do you just pull them over your head?

I think I can put them over my head, but they tend to get twisted, so I just button them on. I was originally going to cut the front end of the ties into points, but I think I'll leave it square for now.

Thanks everyone! Cheesy

So I made these sleeves (which I've been thinking about for freaking ages) from a fleece I bought from a charity store for like 3.50. Yay. I don't have any pictures of the fleece, sorry, but it's pretty much a skeleton now. I love these things.

They cross at the back and attach themselves to each other, if you can imagine that.

Thanks for looking! Smiley

I think I'm gonna make this. Only thing is, could you give an indicator of the measurements for your pattern? I'll try and judge it from the lined paper, but if you could help that'd be awesome. Thanks!

Thanks. Smiley

I actually found the fabric in the remnants bin of a furnishing section, it's curtain fabric yay! Got like 2 metres of that, and another similar fabric (except black and red instead of brown and orange) for $4. Woo.

Sorry for the dark photos! Finally got this finished. It's actually meant to be a prototype for a more kilty fabric I have, but wasn't sure if I had enough fabric, so tested it on this so I didn't make any mistakes. Quite happy with it, even if I don't really wear skirts. Smiley

It's a kilt style, so the front is flat, while the back is pleated. The pleats are quite big, I think I may make them deeper for the "real thing".

It joins together with velcro (which is hidden) and ribbons.

It goes on in kilt style too, ie, wrap around, here's a close up of one of the ends at the front...

...and the other end at the back, complete with screw up around one of the velcro parts when trying to attach the skirt to the band. >.>

Thanks for looking! Happy holidays!

This was a nice project to come back to from missing my sewing machine during term time!
