I'd love to get started on something for the new year.  Unfortunately the Maplewood Women's Club fell through.  I did a show this past weekend at the Maplewood Tennis Club that went great.  Even though the place was small and set back from the road, there was continuous foot traffic.  So I'm going to check out that place and I also heard the South Orange Performing Arts Center was affordable.

I haven't forgotten!  Still plugging away at finding a spot.

Yes, I'd like to avoid that.  That's one of the problems I have seen at various festivals and fairs in Essex County.  I need to get back to the Women's Club.  I signed up for a Saturday in May but haven't heard back from them.

Wow, I haven't been here in awhile.  Yes I'm still interested in planning a show in Essex County. I am down to two locations in Maplewood.  The Maplewood Women's Club and the Maplewood Community Center.  And also a small location in Summit.  I did have a tentative date for next spring for the first place.  I will check back when I have more information.  I'm so excited to see the interest.

I'm in NJ too.  Oops I meant to say Treasure Island sometimes has arts and crafts and if you're close to one, you can try Pearl Paint.  And the Shrinky Dink website.  http://www.shrinkydinks.com/  I just picked up a Shrinky Dink oven for $15 this past weekend too at Shop Rite. lol

Wasn't sure where to put this...

I know its been mentioned in a previous thread about the lack of shows in the NJ area that don't cater to crocheted doilies and brick-a-brack.    I'd like to help change that and I'm looking for some crafty and resourceful people to help organize a trunk show for Spring 2007.

What I have now:

I live in Irvington, NJ which is right between Newark and Maplewood about 15-20 minutes outside of NYC.  I have access to a free room at the local library for any meetings.

Currently I am in negotiations for a indoor location at a local park in Maplewood.  The place is very nice...they host alot of wedding receptions and parties here. Plenty of bathrooms, parking, close to main streets, and local transportation. I do have to double check the size of the rooms.   

For those who don't know the area, here's alittle more info:

Maplewood prides itself on being a diverse and family-friendly community. In a number of surveys it is ranked among the most desirable places to live in the United States. The township has a downtown area alternatively known as "the village" or "Maplewood Center" with its own movie theater, several upscale and midscale restaurants, a small supermarket, independent café, two liquor stores, and a small bookstore. The structure of the village is largely unchanged since the 1950s.

It has been the site for several films, including Garden State, One True Thing, Stepmom, and The Reader

I took an old Charles Chips metal can and spray painted it with black metallic paint.  You can see it in my fourth picture.
