4  Jellyfish Costume! in Halloween Costumes by fishrubbergreen on: November 06, 2010 07:16:51 AM

in action :

attempt at showing the lights :

Hey Everyone!

I was a jellyfish for halloween, specifically a Portuguese man of war, since I am Portuguese Smiley
It was well received by everyone on the streets in Brooklyn, and it was fun to wear.

This costume was made on the Saturday before halloween in a couple of hours, I only used things I had laying around : curling ribbon, battery operated christmas lights, LOTS of plastic shopping bags, duct tape, some cardboard and a plastic dome thing I had left over from doing a window display.

I wore an old white fringey dress (for the inner tentacles) and silver sequin leggings (to be like water). You can't see in the pictures but there are little lights in the head, which made it look awesome and creepy when going into a dark dance party!

I hope you guys like it!!!

5  Re: September Monthly Odd Holidays Gallery - send out August 23 in The Swap Gallery by fishrubbergreen on: October 02, 2010 06:33:31 AM
Hey everyone!

I angeled for akredhead.  She got her package a little while ago but hasn't had a chance to post pictures, so I thought I would put some up.

I made her (and her husband) a tote bag inspired by my favorite onomatopoeia to celebrate comic book day. A set of notecards for talk like a pirate day.  And I saw she wanted to things to hang on her walls, so I made some paper collage-y wall art for woman's friendship day. I know she makes jewelry so I added a little bag of beads and random little whims bits - but I did that last minute so I don't have a picture.

I hope everything gets good use!

6  Re: Ongoing Fabric Swap III - the summer edition! (The party has begun!) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by fishrubbergreen on: June 26, 2006 08:08:57 AM
and here are my fabrics:

clockwise from the top left -

1. thin maroon cotton (i think) somewhat sheer, and embroidered. it's 40" wide. available in 1/2 yd. or FQ

2. navy chiffon with velvet paisley and there is silver glitter on the velvet. it's 60" wide, it's cant be cut into quarters because of the design i have. 1 1/2 yards total (uncut) that can be divided

3. black and white angled stripes. i'm not sure what this is feels kinda heavy i think i got it at a place that sells mens suiting fabrics or upholstery - could be either. it's 60"  wide. 1/2 yd. FQ

4. LIME green vinyl, the limiest lime green i could find in all of nyc. i have alot. it's about 50" long.available in 1/2 yd. of FQ (claimed by rosali - but i have more!)

5. navy with white polka dots spandex. pretty thick/stiff as far as spandex goes - excellent bikini material (i wanted a vintage looking swim suit). it's 60" long. i have TONS 1/2yd. of FQ

6. navy damask, feels synthetic. pretty design. i have two FQ available

7. orange vintage lace. it's about 34" long. 1/2 yd. available

8. black and white houndstooth. this one is definately a mens suiting fabric. not sure what it is, feel nice, nice drape. it's a little over 60" wide. i have 2 very FQ (claimed by rosali - still have one FQ left)

7  blinged out lunchboxes in Completed Projects by fishrubbergreen on: June 08, 2006 09:54:24 AM
here is yet another project i did in school - we had to come up with a new kind of lunchbox.
nothing says lunch like a rhinestone banana. Smiley

i made the cases for a sandwich, banana and a can of soda using styrene plastic - it was ALOT more difficult than i expected, especially the banana. then spray painted them with chrome spray paint. and whipped out the glue and many many many packages of small rhinestoes and set down to blingify my lunch.

it was a tedious task but all in all i think they came out pretty cool.

let me know what you think. Smiley

8  home theater - kinda... in Completed Projects by fishrubbergreen on: May 22, 2006 04:58:44 PM
this was for an assignment i did for school. it was part of an exhibition for amc (american movie classics). we had to build a shrine to a movie moment. i was fairly obsessed with the movie moulin rouge at the time so i made a stage for the can can ladies to dance on. that is a theater framing a tv/dvd player. the scene where they are dancing just loops over and over making it look like they are really on the stage.

this is my first project post on craftster so i'm sorry if this doesn't quite fit in. i intend to finish up some more crafty crafts soon.

thanks for checking it out, and let me know what you think.  Smiley
