1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Rookie Mistake NEED HELP ASAP! I'm desperate! [getting chalk off fabric] on: June 05, 2011 08:31:35 AM
this is probably too late...but tape will take off chalk.  If there's a lot to do, then a lint roller.
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Using a Commercial Sewing Pattern on: June 05, 2011 08:05:08 AM
Just a tip - I like hitting up the thrift store for random fabrics and bed sheets.  You can pick up a ton, for next to nothing, then you always have different types of fabric that you can use for actual projects or for making mock ups of patterns.
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: GAGA BRA!! :) on: March 14, 2010 04:32:44 PM
I loved this bra so much, and yours turned amazing. I immediately had to go and make one myself.  From my trail and error I learned.

- Super Glue is the way to go (dries fast and holds strong, fabric glue is just a mess)
- You can buy disco balls at party stores also
- or you can just buy the tiles (they're called mirror mosaic tiles)
- Strapless bras give you the best result (I used an old basic black bra, and the cups aren't as rounded as the strapless, once I find a strapless on sale, I will be re-doing it)

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Swimsuits. its summer finally! [maybe?] on: June 01, 2007 09:48:40 PM
I love the originality of the music note fabric, and it looks great with the poka dots, it's really flattering and cute too!  I also really like the strawberry one!
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: My Pink Prom Dress on: May 22, 2007 03:50:00 PM
This looks like Simplicity 3878 to me! Because I'm making the same one. And it's taking me FOREVER. Did you end up using all the tulle it asked for?? I gathered all of the tulle for the skirt and it ended up being embarassingly voluminous. So I had to start the gathering over. Seeing yours gives me hope though!

I ended up adding an extra layer of tulle and not even using all of the tulle it asked for.  The tulle kind of got messed up, so it was kind of winged.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My Pink Prom Dress on: May 19, 2007 05:39:49 PM
For prom I didn't want to spend $400 on my dress or have anyone else with the same one, so I made mine.

This is before the zipper is sewn on, and it looks kind of frumpy just laying down.

This is the top and you can kind of see the sequins I sewed on

This is a picture of the whole dress, even though I was really pissed when this picture was taken.

Here's a happy picture with me and my 2 best friends!
