1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / Silkscreen + Bleach Pen = i-chicken on: September 03, 2006 08:02:12 PM
I lifted this design from somewhere else a while back .. but decided to try something new with it ...  I used my normal screen (photo emulsion process) but instead of ink .. i took a bleach pen and traced over the design with the fat scrubby end .. then ran the squeegee over it and .. wha-la .. I-chicken ... this was jsut a test on an old piece of fabric .. but i'm really pleased .. i'm going to make the real thing in a day or so

2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / No more transparencies!!!! on: May 27, 2006 10:06:27 PM
ok .. so i was eating fried chicken on a paper plate today .. and noticed something that will change my life!! .. ok .. maybe i'm getting a little carried away .. but here goes

i noticed the grease from the chicken was making the paper plate sort of translucent .. and the first thing i thought of was .. i wonder if that would work for exposing my screens .. so i came home .. printed my image on plain white paper ... soaked the paper in vegetable oil .. stuck it to a piece of glass and exposed it to my screen the same way as i would a transparency .. and it worked!! .. the paper wasn't clear after soaking it in oil .. but it's clear enough for light to get thru.. which is all that matters!!! .. i'm so excited.. no more trips to kinkos!!
