112  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / First Craft Show! I need advice! on: July 25, 2006 04:53:31 PM
Alright on September 2nd i'm going to be participating in my town's craft show. It will be held outside - rain or shine-
This will be my very first show and i'm going to be selling tote bags/purses that i've sewn.

I'm trying to decide how to display them... any ideas?!  We get a 12x12 space.

Also i'm going to probably need a tent or something to cover my space if it does rain!  Any ideas or links that would help would be GREAT!

Any help you guys could give me would be great!!!! Thanks!

113  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I'd love your advice on my bag :) on: July 22, 2006 05:39:13 AM
Hey everyone! Ok so i've signed up for a small craft show in my town- the fee was only 25$ so i figured it would be fun. I've been on a purse making kick lately, and i'm thinking about selling them.
I've made two of these kinds so far :

Would you guys buy something like this? How much would you pay too? I was thinking of pricing at $15-20? Does that sound reasonable?  I was also thinking about selling smaller purses with kiddie fabric...  good idea?  Since it will be in the begining of september are people going to be looking for more 'fall bags?'
Your advice would be so helpful! Also any links about craft shows and displays would be good too! (its an outside show in the begining of september!)

Thanks so much everyone!
114  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Heart and Hawiian Purse on: July 13, 2006 11:35:16 AM
Ok so i used this pattern when making this purse :

I first made this purse for myself:

Which i thought was pretty easy, except for a slight confusion on putting the bottom piece on....

Then today/yesterday i made my sister a purse:

and i kept messing up- putting the bottom piece on... so it ended up quite different than my first attempt. I don't think it looks bad, but its just different shaped.

Has anyone ever used this pattern before and had any problems.. or maybe its just me? haha...  Anyways, i'm going to try a pattern/tutorial from here next time...

Thanks for looking!
115  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Tofu and Bill Murray on: July 13, 2006 11:30:08 AM
Here are my two latest stencils

I got the idea for this one from this thread : http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=75594.0
I made my own block of tofu though Smiley

Then I made a Bill Murray shirt. To make a long story short, my friends know i like Bill Murray and they always joke around saying i'd never watch a movie unless 'bill murray is in it..' hence my inspiration to make this shirt Smiley

Thanks for looking Smiley

117  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / What i use to make stencils on: June 27, 2006 05:15:41 PM
Hey everyone- i'm pretty new to the whole making my own stencils and what i do to make my stencils last a while...  I print the image out first on cardstock... then i trace the parts that I cut out onto one of those folders:
that are kinda like bendy - like the kind of material that store bought stencils are on...
and then i cut it again on the folder.  Plus i cut the folder in half and i can get two stencils from one folder... Smiley  Yes it involves double the cutting.. but i think its totally worth it because then you have a stencil that will last you much longer than just using cardstock!

Just thought i'd share with everyone!

oh and you can find the folders just about anywhere, i got mine at WalMart for 79 cents. Smiley

Ok i found this picture... would it be good for a stencil??

i would have to cut out the white part and make islands right?
