31  Robot Love is Messy ... pillow in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by babychel on: August 13, 2006 04:21:32 PM
Hey everyone, I made this pillow for my first swap - my partner said "robots are cute" and "I like black and hot pink" so I used inspiration from many of you, none of which I could "re"-find, unfortunately, but you know who you are!  I found this piece of silver fabric at an antique store this summer - I think it was like a $1.00?

Robot Love is Messy:

Back of pillow:

Thanks for all the inspiration ... my fellow cracksters! er ... craftsters ... don't you find yourself on craftster so much, it's like man, I really need to be craftin' but I can't stop looking at everything!  Oh, and twigzie, I think robots are cute too!!!

32  80s child - Jem and the Holograms (without the Holograms) 1st clothing post in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by babychel on: August 11, 2006 04:48:16 PM
Okay, so first of all, I was born in 1978, so I grew up with the Smurfs, Carebears, My Little Pony, Rainbow Brite, JEM and the Holograms! .... Cabbage Patch Kids, Litebrite, Jelly bracelets and shoes ... does everyone know where I'm comin' from?  So I wanted to make a cute 80s shirt to wear tomorrow.

I cut this Fruit of the Loom size large t-shirt into a more 80s shape.  I couldn't find a stencil online, so I freehanded while looking at the below picture of a shirt on 80stees.com.  Now, whadya think, should I wear it?  I'm planning on putting a black kind of wife beater style-wider straps than a typical tank top- shirt under it.   I know I shouldn't beg for feedback, but really, should I wear this in public?  I altered the hair and messed up her chin!  And I didn't have the right pink - I mixed red, white and silver and came up with this!

My shirt:

33  His name is Rooster the Sparrow the Stuffie in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by babychel on: August 07, 2006 05:04:31 PM
My first "toy" post and my first stuffie!

He's made out of felt, some rooster fabric bits and his beak is a very tiny piece of vintage fabric, it's handsewn.

He stands because of 20 cents at his base - 4 nickels ...

Enjoy!

Here you can see it with the Story of Sadako and the keychains, random mini harmonica and one I made from an army man.  I also made my first paper crane.  I got two paper cranes in return from my partner!

The camoflauge and paper cranes ... does everyone get it?  I hope so!

36  DIY Cherry Earring Kit in Beads: Completed Projects by babychel on: August 02, 2006 05:45:58 PM
Hey everyone, I just finished my first swap - here is one of the items I sent.  It's a kit containing ear wires, jump rings, "cherry" beads and leaf beads.  I put "I heart Craftster" and "Just add Wire" on it!

Can you see it?  It's so tiny.  Sorry, there are a couple of other items in there too, we won't talk about those!  But the bottlecaps give good size relation.
Whadya think?  Comments/criticism welcome!

Everybody Loves Ice Cream iPod Cozy & stickers (my iPod not included) (purple plant pot not included either!)

These are two items that I've made for my own business - they are pins - I Scream for Ice Cream and Begonia on Ravioli!

I DID NOT MAKE THIS!!!  Twigzie asked for clothing as her 1st item.  As I do not have a sewing machine at the moment - (long story) I had to give her something!!!

Close up of the fabric

Packaged up and ready to go!  Army man and mini harmonica keychains in front.
Also included are 3 CDs - one of my husband's band, plus a matchbook, a NYC compilation CD that they were on and also a "This is Me CD" like another swap on Craftster!  I believe I will be receiving one also?!?!

I can't wait!

Twigzie - did you get everything there!?!?!  I'm so happy you like it!  Did I "stalk" you well?  The only random things were the earring kit and magnet set!  But who doesn't like cherries and zebra print?

39  A lot of pictures of my house - reconstructed, crafted - you'll see in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by babychel on: July 20, 2006 06:22:54 PM
OK, so we bought this house (one year ago this month!) that was a total fixer but it had brand new central A/C and they just redid the kitchen cabinets + appliances and the bathrooms so needless to say we took it.  It's a cookie cutter bi-level (some of you will be familiar with this style) Let me know what you think!  Also, Leah, if you're out there - thank you for inventing craftster!  You are my hero.
On to the pics, I'll try to let you know what justifies them being here.  Please let me know if they don't show!
This is one of the only before pics - that wall is comin' down soon!

And here you go - we knocked down half of the wall to make it an open floor plan (well, a friend with carpenter skills helped too Smiley  Look at the Roy Lichenstein inspired tea pot!

This is the foyer - yes, there are 3 colors there.

Here is the living room - I did a faux sponge with the 3 colors.  The two pictures that follow are the living room progressing into the dining room.

Turn around, you're in the kitchen now - I painted the lightswitch plate.

Close-up!

Other view of the kitchen - I made the recipe "house", with the help of my father

Down the hall, to the bedroom ... refinished the furniture and the keys.  I should've taken a close-up of them - very ornate and pretty!  I have a thing for skeleton keys, as you soon will learn.

Turn around, there's the refinished desk, soon to be make-up area (need one of those lighted mirrors)

The refinished armoire, I made the 2 shadowboxes on the left.

Close-up of one of the shadowboxes I made.

Made the headboard.  I have more of the fabric, which is reversible, and I will be making curtains and accent pillows with the reverse, Silver with Black fleur-de-lis.

Close-up of the fabric

Joint compound + paint + stencil =

Close-up

Bedside tables.  I took these garden planter things and repainted the gold fleur-de-lis Silver, then kind of distressed it with Black, but I'm not done.  I need to make a mold for the round parts and then construct some sort of tile and mortar thing.

And here's my ducky bathroom - I didn't make anything here, but my "friend of craftster logo" is a duck so there!

Thanks for looking!  What do you think?
Oh by the way, the paint colors are Afternoon Tea, Ladybug Red, Caramel Cream, Roasted Chestnut, and Cupid's Heart. In that order I think!

40  Marble looking marble magnets - does that make sense? in Completed Projects by babychel on: July 01, 2006 02:32:21 PM
So this is my first project post here - I was making marble magnets and decided to use acrylic paint and Bond 527 (it's a multi-purpose cement)

I call them ... Earth, Wind & Fire, and Happy 4th of July!

I swear I didn't do that on purpose.  Well, maybe the red, white and blue one.

I hope the image works (I'm using photobucket)

Thanks for looking all my lovely, talented craftster peeps!
