First of all - I want to thank all of you craftsters that posted suggestions for me.  Even though I liked all of your ideas...I decided to go with pillows.  His birthday is tomorrow - I hope he likes 'em!  Here's a pic:

That orange is sooo off!  It's much lighter in person!  Thanks again everyone!

12  Thanks for your help! Elvis Fabric-Birthday Gift for Male Co-Worker IMG attached in Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage by babychel on: January 25, 2008 09:04:30 AM
So I work with this super sweet older gentleman who loves Elvis, oldies music, dark chocolate, cookies and ice cream...anyway...I want to give him a gift for his birthday.  I don't have a lot of money to spend, so I'm going to make him a mix CD and then I purchased a 1/2 of this fabric at Walmart for $2.22.  But I am at a loss of what to make that a man would like & use, so I was hoping my fellow craftsters could help me out...what do you think?  I would also be willing to add some more fabric in a coordinating color.  Thanks so much in advance!!! Love yas!

PS: That Black band seen at the bottom is not part of the fabric

15  Eight half aprons and boy I'm tired ... Just in the St. Nick of time in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by babychel on: December 20, 2007 07:26:45 PM
After numerous fights with my sewing machine... I finally finished my half aprons for the girls in the office.  I asked them all to describe their kitchens to me, and this is what I came up with.  I also made eight paper aprons to go with them and wrote a little poem too.

I'm off to box and wrap them up - our holiday exchange is tomorrow!  Maybe I'll get some actions shots?

16  Help wanted ... fabric for my 'mod' bar - incl. sneak peek photo of course in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by babychel on: July 07, 2007 04:35:01 PM
Hi everyone!  I've looked at just about every fabric website I could and I can't seem to find mod fabric to match the paint colors of the room.  This is the design we painted on one wall.  The colors are by Home Depot Behr - Grass Cloth (light green), Grape Leaves (dark green), Monaco (sky blue) and Ralph Lauren - Broome (tan), and the carpet is chocolate brown.  I'm hoping somebody can help me!  Thanks in advance!  Love ya!

Can't wait to show everyone the finished room!

17  Just admit it ... you shrunk it!!! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by babychel on: June 18, 2007 10:46:56 AM
Hi there everyone!

I experimented with shrinky-dinks and made myself some flash tattoo style pendants ... I borrowed the images from istockphoto.com

Sorry this one is a bit blurry!

Now I don't have to get a 'mom' tattoo, I can just wear this necklace!

Hope you like!  As usual, comments are welcome!  Thanks!

18  Re: SCAVENGER HUNT ATC Cards. What can YOU do with these materials? in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by babychel on: December 01, 2006 11:35:01 AM
Lovely cards everyone!

OK here's mine.  It's a bit naughty.  I don't own any regular playing cards.  I used the queen though.

Materials used: Red acrylic paint, ONE button, Black Ink stamp pad, one piece of ribbon, ONE 5-letter word - w/ ABC stamps, a fortune from a fortune cookie, plain white printer paper & aluminum foil.

I had fun.  This is my 5th ATC card.  I can't wait for the next mission.  Thanks OY!

19  Ode to Craftster ATC in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by babychel on: November 29, 2006 07:29:48 AM
Hi again!  4th ATC card, straying very far from the vintage look.

What to do if you want to make a craftster tribute ATC and you want to use shrinky dinks but you don't have any and you don't have any suitable meltable plastic and you don't have a printer?

Cardstock + ballpoint pen + markers + colored pencils + "Glossy Accents".
Add in a little glue, fabric and felt =

Comments appreciated as I am still really new to making ATCs.  Thanks guys and gals!

PS ... All this was inspired by watching the "Craftster on Gilmore Girls" thread, then watched Gilmore Girls (which I must say is not my kind of show), saw no recognition, and now someone's selling "Knit or Go Home" shirts with the logo on Cafepress.  Now I hope the copyright issue gets resolved quickly and Leah can get what she deserves.  So anyway, yeah, I used the craft skull - how ironic.  But it's an ATC.

20  Re: Stamped images to share in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by babychel on: November 27, 2006 07:56:23 AM
OK ... I will go first with my examples.  I promise not to send any images with black lines on the sides!

1.  Foam stamps - these give a more distressed look, so if you're into the vintage look, like I am ...

2.  Various ... let me know if you want a better pic of one.  Top left corner is "hand stamped"

3.  I love these!

4.  Celestial ...

5.  Flutterby ...

PM me if you want to trade images!!!  Looking forward to seeing more in the gallery!  **I think I have more stamps somewhere**
