1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Microplush TARDIS problems on: December 07, 2010 10:45:51 PM
hey guys I started a craft and now I'm stuck and only have 17 days to finish it  Undecided Huh HELP!?!?!?

Ok so the brilliant idea I had was to make my snuggle buddy a new blanket for Christmas; he's a big Doctor Who fan; and I found this beautiful blue microplush fabric at a steal of $2.50 a yard so I decided I'd make him a TARDIS blanket.
I've got the basic parts done, trimmed the edges with a nice wide blue satin blanket binding, got the windows finished, did some simple stitching to give the appearance of the panels, and now I've hit a snag. I have no idea how to do the stenciling for the notice that goes on the door or for the sign that reads "POLICE CALL BOX" and while the blanket looks really nice as it is without those two features it's not a TARDIS blanket it's just a nice blue blanket with two white squares at the top.
I'd use simple fabric paint but I really don't want it to wash off and with Microplush it feels really weird.

Please someone help. I have no idea what to do and I'm running out of time

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Buddy Cube Plushies on: June 03, 2009 09:20:45 PM
I've gotten caught up in making these, I made the first one for my father-in-law as a christmas present, and then I made one for a student of his who after seeing the first one begged me to make one for him. I recently made a few to sell at an Artist Alley table at a convention that my friends and I shared.
5  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Adding moisturizer to Glycerin M&P on: September 20, 2008 08:56:59 AM
Ok so I just made my first bar of M&P glycerin soap. I got the glycerin because I like to be able to see through my soap, I didn't add any thing other then scent to it. But when I used it it felt very harsh on my skin. Is there any way to add moisturizer to glycerin M&P?
6  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / How do you make flip-flops? on: June 28, 2008 02:54:50 PM
Ok so I've had these really adorable fabric flip-flops for about three years, and now they are literally falling apart, i.e. there's a hole in the sole where my toe meets the ground. I know there is no way to save the pair I currently have, so how do I make myself a new pair?
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Sanding Jewelry? on: June 10, 2008 12:03:14 AM
A few days ago I bought a lovely spoon bracelet at my local salvation army. It looks lovely but I can't wear it for long because no matter how tight or lose I have it wrapped one end digs into and rubs my wrist raw, the first night I had it I wore it to bed and woke up the next morning with my wrist looking like I'd spent the night playing an interesting game of bondage with my boyfriend. I moved it to the other wrist and wore it around for a few hours before realizing it was chafing my wrist.
Is there some way to sand the rough bit without damaging the bracelet? What sort of sand paper should I use, would an emery board work? Or do I need to bite the bullet and take it to a jeweler?
8  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Wood Wick Candles on: June 06, 2008 12:14:32 PM
I don't know if anyone else has encountered these yet or not but, I'd love some advice.
My in-laws-to-be, fell in love with a brand of candles called wood wicks, their main draw is that the wick is an actual piece of wood, and when the candle is lit it crackles like a fire. I love them too, they have a lovely romantic ambiance and smell delightful, however, they're $22 a candle, and I'm still living on a college students budget.
My questions are as follows, 1) is it possible to duplicate these with melt and pour stuff from my local craft store? 2) what sort of wood would be best used and should it be specially treated in anyway to make it a better wick? 3) with a candle like this would it be safe to use things like dried herbs and flowers for scents?

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / How do you Make a Body Suit? on: April 27, 2008 07:51:58 PM
I need all the advice I can get, I need to know how to make a body suit, I'm going to Dragon Con as the Great Fairy from the Zelda games, since the Great Fairy is naked except for a bunch of Ivy Leaves, and since D-con has some rules about apparent nudity I need to make a body suit.
