13  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / wonder woman and her lasso of truth! (giant pictures) on: November 03, 2008 04:33:05 PM
this is my first costume contructed entirely from scratch. i don't dress up for halloween often but we had a party this year so i did. the pictures are not great but hopefully you get an idea.

you can see the golden lasso hanging from my waist in the last two and my red boots, aka socks.

and here is my husband as thor, god of thunder. his costume is mostly reconned and not part of my entry.

also thors hammer is not crafted, but a real, expensive collectible. and the sheet behind him is where we showed movies during our party.

ps. thats a wig

15  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: just a rant on: October 23, 2008 01:59:54 PM
oh, man, they don't make them like they used to do they? i hate refilling bobbins- i like to use them until they are absolutely empty- so even if i check before each seam i'm still going to run out, ha!
16  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / just a rant on: October 22, 2008 03:02:55 PM
i neeeeed a sewing machine that has a ding or a light that comes on when the bobbin is empty. seriously, do you know how many times i have sewn at least half my seam before realizes the bobbin is out? it is the most annoying thing! does this feature actually exist? because it should!!!

thanks for listening Kiss
17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: sweetheart neckline bodice help on: October 12, 2008 02:24:16 PM
if i put boning in the front does it go all the way to the top or stop at the bust line? what you have suggested may solve my problem but the part i am most worried about is the part directly around my boobs. it is just looser there. will the boning help that?
18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / sweetheart neckline bodice help on: October 12, 2008 08:59:19 AM
i am making the bodice for my halloween costume out of swimwear knit.i used a tutorial from whatthecraft to create a sweetheart neckline. my desire is for this to be strapless, but i don't really know how to make it stay up. because it is sweetheart, i can't just add a casing and elastic. i thought about just stretching some elastic across the inside of the back but i don't think that will work since the fabric itself is stretchy. does anyone have any ideas for ensuring it will stay up or do i just have to make straps? would just taking it in at the very top (above my boobs) solve this? i am hesitant to try something i am not positive will work because the bodice is fine other than this and i don't want to have to start over. any help would be greatly appreciated!!
