11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / rag bag fashion NEW FOTOS !! on: July 10, 2006 03:19:49 PM
Hallo here is a jumper I knitted with rags. I tore old material into strips then tied the strips together and then knitted it on giant needles to make the 'body' part. Next I knitted the arms on a giant home made dolly bobbin. Not sure what a dolly bobbin is in the states............some people call it russian or french knitting.

Basically its knitting a tube with a sort of cotton bobbin with pegs on the top and then rolling the knitted tubes into spiral shapes to make coasters etc.The tubes are usually about 1cm wide but  I have a whole range of homemade 'bobbins' that i made myself that go up to around 20 cm wide. They are great you can knit very quickly with them and the effect is sort of net like.

Anyway if anybody has any questions I'll try and get a foto of the bobbins tomorrow when my new camera arrives. Its easier to see than it is to describe.

These are some candles I have re-vamped by placing them in a dish with molten wax and then plunging the dish into a bucket of cold water. This causes the wax to rise and then freeze in the water creating this pretty effect.

Ok thats the picture hosting repaired!!! Angry

16  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / woven METAL lamps (lots fotos)NOW WITH CLOSE UP on: May 05, 2006 04:21:35 AM
Hi all here are some lamps I have been making for a while now..........they are made from woven metal strips and are about 2 meters tall (or six feet.) I put either a strip light in (tube liight) or christmas lights for a different effect. Each woven structure takes me about 10-15 hours to make.

17  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Cornucopia of paper on: May 05, 2006 04:11:23 AM
Hallo everyone i can't find the link but a saw here on this forum a tutorial for making bowls from folded magazine paper. Just wanted to post my attempt. It started to bend so I went with the flow and produced a sort of horn shaped structure that is 40cm/16 inches high. I plan to make another and join them together. I'll post pics when I'm done.

18  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / My beaded and felt shapes window ornaments/ beaded curtain on: May 05, 2006 04:07:50 AM
These are my window decorations  (and other places i n the house too) They are made from felt balls which have been cut into two to show the swirls of colour on the inside of each felt ball. Also included are all my old 1980's jewellery including bad taste earings and beads plus old keys, watches and pet name tags of my deceased pets. I had been saving these bits and pieces for years and decided I would make a 'hanger' of memories but I had so many I made enough to make a sort of beaded curtain.

20  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / broken mirror mosaic mirrors **now with fotos** on: April 16, 2006 11:33:29 AM
Hallo I'm new here but I love what I've seen so far, so many creative people its great. I hope my stuff fits into the craft title. I make loads of stuff from fabric rugs and mosaics and mirrors and lamps and spider webs made from wooden sticks. blah blah blah. I'm just so excited to share this with you all.

I make these out of MDF and broken bits of mirror that I collect where ever and wheneverI find it. I also use broken coloured glass scavenged from the local stained glass window maker. I love to use things which have had a previous life or that were destined for the rubbish dump. I have to buy the central complete mirror and MDF but For the most I prefer to recycle its more inspirational............you know necessity is the mother of design and all that.

Anyway there are lights I make from woven metal strips and mirrors made from mirror and glass waste from a stained glass shop. There are collages made from material scraps and giant pom poms made from coloured pantyhoses/tights plus window decorations made from wool tops (for making felt) and wire sculptures from recycled coloured wire amd a spiders web made out of factory waste wooden sticks. Pleas take a look and I"m happy to explain how I made them with a tutorial if anybody is interested in a particular piece.
Check out my space slide show of some of my stuff.  PLEASE

see my link below all my posts...........
