1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Do I have time left to wedding craft? on: October 20, 2006 07:01:47 AM
I would not.

If you were a seamstress, perhaps.
But what if they don't turn out?  What if you don't finish?

They need to have dresses. I'd focus on crafty stufff you already know how to do at this point.

<--- did a lot of cute crafty stuff no one even noticed. I wish I had saved my time.

very clever. A cute gift for birthdays when you don't want to give a huge gift.

I realize what the thread in general is about.
But that poster was talking about something else, I think.
"An edible white subtance" that whole line I didn't understand.
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: THE GENERIC BOYFRIEND GIFT THREAD: A How-To! on: October 11, 2005 11:44:14 AM
The only crafty gift my husband enjoyed:
a sweater quilt.
Made on the same premise as a T-shirt quilt, but all the sweaters were thrift store bought and gray. I tried to felt them, but that didn't really work all that well. It did shrink them enough so that the edges stayed togther.
Then I cut out squares, and sewed them together with some gray yarn. Then i cut a piece of flannellike backing in half and sewed it together (so it would be more quilt sized but I didn't have to buy a ton of material.)
Then I bound the edges with quilt binding.
He loves it.
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Gingerbread house pattern on: October 11, 2005 11:35:48 AM
yes, I am one of those super early Christmas planners.  Cheesy

I was thinking of gingerbread houses from scratch this year.
The cookie itself can't be too hard to make; but I need help with how to cut it into pieces. Before or after I bake? any patterns?

any suggestions for candy to put in the kit?

Ahh i love this. I can't wait to start seeing candy canes in the shops so i can try this. Solved the problem of what i should get my brother for christmas. A few of these and a bottle of whatever alcohol it is he drinks. I can also see these as adorable little decorations/small gifts for people you don't want to give nothing to or something big. One of them with a normal candy can sitcking out the middle/top and some kind of edible white substance to hold it in place...but what? My first though was merangue but how would you cook in there? sugar? mints? not what i was thinking. ideas?

I'm not sure what you mean by that.  the shotglass with candy in it? What about one of those heavy iciings I can't quite think of the name of.
The one they use to hold gingerbread houses together.
