21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Schoolgirl/Schoolboy Swap? on: September 11, 2006 04:10:09 PM
I'm not sure about everyone else, but I am in high school, and I'm not one of those "I hate school" kids. So how about it? Here are some ideas of what I was thinking about, but feel free to elaborate on it!

For those who can sew! We all want to dress up like private schoolgirls, right? Pleated skirt, button-up shirt, blazer, knee-socks, the max!

You can make schoolbags, pencil cases, or school-spirit things (made in their school's colours).

Also, for those of you good at paper crafts, handmade sketchbooks or notebooks!

Yeah, so I love school and I'm a big dork Cheesy!

The application would probably include something like, "What's your favourite subject?" or "What clubs are you in?" and those who can stencil can always make some pretty cool T-shirts.

You don't have to be in high school to do this !
22  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Ai Yazawa's Happy Berry backpack! on: September 11, 2006 01:07:51 PM
Yay, this is a purse, but it is also crocheted! So...I posted it here, haha. I posted it in the Purse section too, but please, moderators, feel free to delete that one.

Please let me know what you think !

Happy Berry is the symbol for a clothing line in Ai Yazawa's manga. It is featured in two series, Gokinjo Monogatari and Paradise Kiss, which I have personally read and it is a high fashion manga about these kids in college.

Anyway, for the bag you can hold about two or three manga books in it. From then on I think I would be too scared to test the sturdiness of the bag since I didn't add lining or anything (I'm not too fascinating with the sewing machine, mind you).

24  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / To copyright or not to copyright? on: August 24, 2006 01:06:48 PM
To make patterns, do most people get copyrights? How much do they usually cost? Or are do they cost more than they are worth and I should just trust people? I really don't want people making my things and then using them for their own benefit because that is incredibly dishonest and plus those designs would just become stale very fast. If you have any comments or answers to all of this, please post! Also, if you have any copyright questions of your own, I'm sure I'm curious too, so post those too. Thank you so much for your time, everyone !
25  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Corset pattern? on: August 21, 2006 05:32:25 PM
Many questions!

Would it be cheaper to make a corset or buy one?

Where is a good place to get a corset/corset pattern?

What supplies do I need? Or should I just get a kit? Where from?

What is a good pattern to use? (Or, if it would come with a kit, what is a good kit to use?)

Do I have to be an expert at sewing?

Will I most likely mess-up? I catch on quick to things, but I'm not sure...

About how much would a corset-making kit cost?

Can I give you a big e-hug and e-smooch for answering all of these x3?!

27  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Appendage accessory swap? on: July 29, 2006 06:08:39 PM
Yeah, we don't have to name it that, LOL, but I crochet and I can make some cute Mary Janes but I would KILL for some knitted Norwegian socks, like these!: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=59711.0

Anyway, appendages meaning arms and legs, my friends. You can send armwarmers, legwarmers, bracelets, anklets, socks, shoes, stockings...and so on.

Does that sound cool?
28  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / The Kiwi Beanie Extravaganza! (visually loaded) on: July 22, 2006 07:18:22 PM
Yay, my first beanie! I have been planning this a LONG time, along with my line-up of other fruit insides like apples and oranges. Oranges would be difficult though...

Anyway, I started this last night, and only got like half of the white part done (it is actually a very, very light pink since I don't have white yarn *cries*) because I was dead tired, so I sat down to watch two episodes of Project Runway today (They are so MEAN this season!) and I finished it!

The seeds are felt pieces, hot glued on. My sister bought me this cheap-but-gorgeous lime green yarn from Wal-Mart awhile ago and I line the edge with brown.

I didn't use a pattern or anything, just wondered what a kiwi looked like and went to town, hoping that it wouldn't be too wonky.

I am actually very happy with this, I can't believe it!

I want to sell it because I am a poor carless, jobless, lifeless 15-year-old (almost 16, woohoo). What do you think I should take it for? I don't have an Etsy or anything, I just use LiveJournal, I wonder if this makes me unprofessional...

Anyway, here are the pics, sorry about the babble, this is actually my first craft post.

30  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 11 ENTRIES / Heads up! on: May 05, 2006 08:13:38 PM
Alright, this challenge is my first and it was a bit hard for me because I, being my silly self, bought a painting that I thought was beautiful the way it was! But, of course, I had to alter it! So I tried to keep its original beauty albeit through my extensive glueing of foreign objects onto it >_>

This painting cost me a mere $5! My stepmother and I both thought it looked relatively familiar, but that's beside the point. Someone basically swished stokes of oil paint across a canvas and made it look pretty.

The original is of three dressed-up girls peeking in through a curtain (forgive these crappy pictures, I recently dropped my camera and it has been from then on foreverly constipated):

http://incandescence.shinjuu.net/challenge/PICT0011.JPG

I immediately imagined them looking in on a ball or something of the sort, so I wanted music and light to be flowing from the room. I also wanted to jazz up their dresses but in the end decided to jazz up everything else instead. Thus, the walls are adorned with pennies and the curtains have little tassles at the top!

The difficulties I faced while completing this was initally just planning it. "What the heck do I want to DO with this?!" Then this escalated into the meticulousness of the pennies all be placed "heads up." It was a pain to have to cut all that newspaper to the EXACT SHAPE of the space between the three girls.

~ The materials I used! ~
Newspaper (the Gainesville Sun, to be exact Grin)
Pennies (lots of them)
Yarn
Beads
Old $5 painting

The title is "Heads up!" because I made sure to make every penny heads up. Otherwise, there is absolutely no connection whatsoever and it was simply a brainfart on behalf of...well, my brain.

The result (taken with my boyfriend's camera XD! Thank you, boyfriend.):
