I was lucky enough to be Mlsocci74's Swap Angel for the Common Name Swap (here's the gallery: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=157855.0). I've been itching to post for awhile now, hehe. I made three things:
Item #1: Inside: Close-up:
(I LOVE this fabric!)
Item #2: Close-up:
(I saw this general idea on LionBrand's site before, had to steal it )
Item #3: Close-up: Modeled:
(Sewed on the pearls to that, so proud of myself )
Sort of inspired by the fact that there was a very successful Apron swap, I think there should be a Spring/Summer Dress swap! It would inevitably be wonderful, yes?!
I cut some of his with a seam ripper once, haha, (on accident! It was sticking out of my bag, and he got his leg/pants/boxers sliced open, way open, and near his crotch, 'twas a moment of pure hilarity) and he just really has a small selection of over time damaged boxers. Plus, they're all boring! I want to buy some crazy fabric patterns and make him some cute ones (especially the traditional white with red hearts <3). I've got some elastic, which I suppose I will need, or would it be better/more comfortable/easier to use a knit fabric waist band? And how would I go about making a pattern, or are there any out there?
My Melody is kind of like Hello Kitty, you know just a randomly cute Japanese character who might have her own TV show. I had a pink rectangle lying around for some reason, so I sewed it up, added the little felt appliqué and pink lace via hot glue.
For this bit, I used this thin wool, but very fluffy. I was trying to make one of those really long and really skinny scarves, but I didn't have enough! So I made it into a scarflet, or neckwarmer. I had some vintage-y buttons and some black ribbon, some white ribbon, and some more hot glue.
Yeah, I know these are a little plain, but the embellishments make them interesting, right? I have some other things that I'm just BURSTING at the seams to show, but they are a for a swap I'm doing, and plus I need some half decent pictures...
Okay, so I've only gotten as far as casting on 28 (and a few knit stitches, but it was so loose, so I undid all that)...but I'm so happy! As an avid crocheter, I've always found knitting really confusing and all, but I got myself a little booklet, size 8 needles, yarn, and some webpages, oh and my boyfriend giving me moral support (possibly so I don't take out my frustration on him? Lol, "Oh s***, she's got needles!"). What finally got me to buckle down and learn to knit are all of these pantas I see! I want one so bad! And I want to be able to make use of the Calorimetry too. Plus, knitting makes for better lettering and pictures than crocheting does. Wish me luck! And all of you other beginner knitters out there, let's do a panta or Calorimetry knit-a-long!
I love the search engine to bits, but it would be nice if the "Limit Search To:" drop-down menu had every board in it instead of only Entire Forum and Current Board Only. Not a priority, but it would just make things easier when it comes to searching
It would be the 3rd round, right? I like the idea of sending out two CDs (the same playlist), so that you get twice the awesomeness, and plus it's a small gift so that isn't so hard!
My boyfriend and I really want to do this (he's really into Craftster swaps now that he realises a lot of them are about music), and I love the idea of making an interesting case to go with your music.
I don't think I could organize since I'm such a n00b, but if I'm qualified I'd definitely be up for it and wouldn't fall behind or anything. And I'd make sure everybody got a Frozenboogereatr CD
I have been thinking about this for awhile, and would really like to do this some day: set up a table at a con! Probably an Anime Con of some sort, in my Floridian area. However, I have one major concern. What of selling crafty bits that are based off of anime ideas? For instance, a Kyo hat (a character from an anime, Fruits Basket). Tons of people make their own, but what about selling them at a con? Seeing this thread here (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=37512.msg326902#msg326902) perked my attention back up to that. It was made a long time ago, so I didn't want to pipe up and ask there.
I make up my own things too, but I like to fill out my fangirlish ways by making these sort of things, and I know other people like to purchase them and while you can always get a Kyo hat, you can't always get a CROCHETED Kyo hat, see?
BJD items (They are Japanese dolls, gorgeous, also called Dollfies) Koda Kuma amigurumi (mascot) Totoro hat Other Fruits Basket hats Skull beanie, scarf, and purse Pikachu hat Top hat Some cute iPod cases
And...
Howl's Moving Castle amigurumi! Gawd, I love that movie and book so much. I wish I could own them ;-;!
Do you love unicorns? Your field of paper flowers and candy clouds of lullaby? And if you love fantasy books like Garth Nix, Diana Wynne Jones, JK Rowling, Holly Black, all that good stuff, I think we should have a swap!
We could make anything of the fantasy genre! It would be...fantastic
