my 3 year old brother is currently OBSESSED with dinasaurs. I think he would go crazy if I made him that. How hard would you say it was? How long would you say it took you to make?

Being a teenager, I flip through many crochet books at my local book store and turn them down when I see many old fashioned, too-old-for-my-nana projects. I have Happy Hooker, and it is my love. I've made many projects from the book(One Skein scarf in one trip to and from Disneyland, Granny-No-Square, Sejia Set, Boy Beanie, Flower), and I am planning to make many more.

Pleeasse help me. Anyone know of any books jammed-full with hip, trendy patterns fit for a teenager who loves to stand out?

oh and debbie stoller, if you're reading this, maybe you can make a crochet book for like, teenagers or something! Filled with patterns that they would love. I would be your best friend, and definately be a buyer. Hehe.

What kinds of yarns are available to you? Ehh..I'm not sure, but there is a good variety(except at walmart). Everything from novelty, bulky, fine, worsted, wool, acrylic, cotton. Even Suede!
What kinds of yarns are unavailable? Umm..not sure.
What brands of yarns do you have commonly? I usually use like...Lion Brand and Caron Simply Soft, only because I usually go to walmart(closest) and I am cheap(teenager), and my walmart doesn't have a great selection.
What kinds do you wish you could get? (brand or specifics) Ohh umm...I'm not suree. lol.
Where are you located? A small town near San Deigo, CA. It is growing rapidly, though, much to my dismay. I absolutely cannot stand the city. The more wide open spaces, the better.
What places can you buy yarn? (ie Jo-anns,Hobby lobby, Walmart etc.) We have a Walmart(closest), and if I am lucky, I may have the luxury of going to Joanns or Michaels Craft's (both about equal distance away from my house).

I am sort of a beginner crocheter(been crocheting for almost a year now..?). Well, not in my skills, but in like, my yarn knowledge. I've only worked with worsted weight acrylic(but everything HAS to be soft), a loverly chunky yarn(my luff), and once with a novelty yarn as an edging. I'm not very adventuresome with my yarns.

I LOVE this bag! I picked up some black chunky yarn at Michaels, and it is the same as yours! What a coincidence. lol. I have already gone through almost 2 full skeins of that. How many did it take you? I will have to go back to Michaels soon and get a couple more skeins.

yeah, I am probably going to be backing it with a fabric I have around. But since it is double-yarned, it is pretty sturdy.

I've been meaning to make a guitar strap for my acoustic guitar for a while now. I was strutting down the isles of Micheal's Crafts when, BAM! Clearance rack! I picked up a small skein of novelty yarn for 2 smackaroo's, and was delighted. At home, I had some calm yellow and soothing pink yarn just waiting to be paired up with this gorgeous yarn. And so, a guitar strap was made! In just a few hours, here it is! I litterally just weaved in my ends!



The colors remind me so much of like, lemonade. And summer.

Okay, I am going crazy.

I want to make just this little swatch. I was watching Knitty Gritty, and they were making this baby blanket. You knit, and then purl some stitches(or reverse), to make a textured design, like a heart. Is this called Embossing or something? I am trying to find some charts for this that don't need to be opened in Adobe or anything. Help?

I got both! They came yesterday, and I am so excited to go to walmart! lol. I don't like that the pictures in SnB are black and white, only with the colors in the middle, but I will survive. lol. I like the looks of stitch and bitch nation better, and I like the whole modifying a pattern section. It will be helpful. Thanks everyone! I am excited to get working on some scarfs and some totes, maybe even a sweater or a pair of socks!
