155  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Brother Sewing Machines on: April 25, 2006 03:24:17 PM
Hey, everyone. My birthday is in 57 days, and I really want a sewing machine. Those Brother ones seem pretty good. Reasonable priced, cute. lol. So I really want to re-construct things. Like Denim Jeans to a denim skirt. I need a machine that can handle really dense fabric. Denim to be exact. Also, the basic stitches, forwards and backwards stitching. And maybe some cool bells and whistles. Will the brother's do me any good? if not, what will?

157  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / first sucsessful(hopefully) purse. on: April 14, 2006 08:02:05 PM
Okay, I've made a pair of jeans into a way-too-short skirt, decked it out, and then realized it was too short, so, I made it into a purse. It looks really odd, so I'm declaring that a fail. I have some really festive fabric available which I dont really care for, and possibly an old jean skirt that comes to about my knee. I might be able to cut up a shirt, and I'll get back to you on that. Any ideas? I'm using this tote to carry my binder/books around. I will be carrying a 1 and 1/2 inch binder, and 1 inch books, if that helps. I also have access to a really nice kenmore sewing machien. I am patternly challenged. LOL. Any ideas?
