1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Baby Giraffe Kicking Bag on: April 04, 2011 07:30:00 AM
It's been a long time since I've posted here (Ravelry sucked me in) but I really wanted to share my version of Zodiac http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer07/PATTzodiac.html because I made a chart for it and wanted to offer it to craftsters.  This bag is for my friend Christen who were recently informed her husband and her wait for adoption is over and their baby will be born in May, they don't know the sex yet....so I made this gender neutral present:

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / First try at a chandelier earring... on: June 28, 2009 02:53:33 PM
I'm trying to make chandelier earrings for my bridesmaids to wear to my wedding. (I'm using this tutorial: http://www.wigjig.com/jewelry-making/modclassic/modclassic-earringspg08.htm)

This is my first time using a wire jig and first time making my own earwires and jump rings....I think I'll purchase the earwires.  I used cheap wire, I did 20 gauge like they said, but I think that's too soft...also my fingernails are waaay too long and were getting in my way of wrapping tightly.  This is mostly a fail, but a good start.  Oh and these fake pearls suck, the paint flecked off like crazy, I'll use pretty glass beads instead.  I probably shouldn't post untill I get better, but I guess I'm looking for encouragement, and/or tips, lol.  Wink
3  UNITED STATES / Connecticut / Good place for denim and cordoroy? on: January 24, 2009 01:24:21 PM
Joann's selection pretty much sucked, I'm in West Haven by the way (New Haven County)  Anyone know a good place in New Haven or Fairfield county or does anyone know a good online store to get denim or cordoroy?
4  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 30 ENTRIES / Pen(cil) Cozy on: September 04, 2008 04:31:06 AM
It's a knitted icord cozy for a pen that makes it look like a pencil...could I get more ironic or useless than that...I mean really?

I haven't entered a challenge in a really long time but when I thought of this idea I just thought it was perfect!
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Sooo clueless...any advice is welcome.... on: August 12, 2008 08:18:27 AM
Hello, my boyfriend of nearly 6 years and I have decided we really want to spend the rest of our lives together and make it official...however times are tough but looking better.  He was just employed full time and I'm about to start a 35 hour a week job and substitute teach in the mornings/afternoon.  Still, we're tired of waiting to strike it rich and plan a huge shebang....I feel as if we are engaged but I don't have an engagement ring...I really don't mind that I think the wedding bands are more important, but I haven't really told anyone but my sisters because there seems to be all these "rules"and  steps people go through.  Has anyone here done it this way?  Just have a ceremony and maybe on an anniversary have a really huge reception?  Does anyone have links or advice on how to make something special that includes those closest and feels like an event but doesn't cost much?  We both like this woman who did his grandparents vow renewal and taught his confirmation class...I was thinking of calling the church and asking what we could do there...and then maybe something at one of the state parks?  I still want to look pretty and feel special but don't want to spend the amount of a car or a house down payment on a wedding...help!

Oh, btw, we both have discussed lots of ideas and if we could afford huge we'd do a whole kind a Tim Burton esque theme...black and white with swirls and in october...maybe some orange accents.  We both really love the movie Sleepy Hollow.  Maybe we could still do something that reflects our personalities.
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Decorated to match nursery - Picture Frame on: June 14, 2008 02:08:03 PM
I posted this in the clay board, but thought people looking at baby items would be interested as well.

I needed a baby shower gift (in addition to the boppy I purchased) and being into photography I like getting baby books and frames.  However, there were no frames or photo paraphenelia listed on the registry and none that came with the set Sad So I had to make something....

Inspiration (wallpaper border):

I used a cheapo frame rescued from craft store, painted and adorned with clay animals...the nursery set is called "Jungle Luv" ...it's from baby's r us.

Please excuse crappy lighting...the colors are close to real life though.  The birds legs, giraffe tail and little ear type things have black wire in it. The smile and eyes are in black clay.
7  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Baby frame decorated w/ clay - matched to nursery on: June 14, 2008 01:05:21 PM

9  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / La Catrina Doll on: October 22, 2007 10:14:30 PM
My swap partner received today so I can share my La Catrina doll I made.  The head and arms are made of polymer clay, plain white with faux finishes and ink details.  I used a mold I made from a toy skull.  This is the first time I made a doll like this and I'm really proud of her, think I'll make more.

10  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Can I bake.... on: August 31, 2007 04:44:31 PM
a plastic birth control case?  I'm prepared to hear a resounding no, but I was thinking...aren't things like that heat treated?  I'm doing a birth control swap that's why I'm asking.  I supposed I could make the clay and then glue it on...or give up on the clay obsession and decoupage something.
