1  Cutesy Kitschy Baby-Jumper in CHALLENGE 12 ENTRIES by sonjdawg on: June 04, 2006 12:20:05 AM
I decided to make a jumper for my daughter. Which turned out to be a good idea when i was making it but hard when i actually had to put it on her.

Front View, me holding her up

I used felt, Pipe cleaners for straps and accents around the pockets. Pompoms for accents around the pockets, and inside the fake flowers.

Close up of the front pocket

I used popsicle sticks to make a little kitschy house on the back with pompom puffs of smoke coming from the chimney.

A little blurry, sorry... 15 month olds move fast!

There she is trying to run from me

It was so much fun to make. It looked great off her, but when it actually went on she wouldn't hold still enough for it to sit correctly. Oh well. I think it still looks pretty awesome. I am going to fix the little things and get it to the point where she can wear it out. Hope everyone enjoys... thanks.

2  Dia de los Muertos Still Life in CHALLENGE 11 ENTRIES by sonjdawg on: May 03, 2006 03:33:34 PM
After When i saw this challenge i remembered a painting my uncle Chris bought from Good Will when i was 9 years old. It was super ugly, we hung it in the garage and it stayed there till this challenge. I tried for the longest time to figure out what to do with it.

before

My best friend is obsessed with Dia de los muertos (the day of the dead) and she has paintings nick knacks and all sorts of skull themed art in her house. As i started looking at the painting more the pears and apples looked like they would make really good skulls. So the whole thing evolved from there

After
[/b]

I had a hard time figuring out what do with the wine bottle and then it hit me, one of this jesus candles. i think it fit perfectly.

I used latex paint, fabric paint, and modge podge.

Then i was stumped, what to do with the weird metal objects. One turned into the sun (obviously) and the next just sort of morphed into a cliff. The quote in there is a partial quote from the bible that seemed to fit perfectly with the over-all theme.

This was lots of fun. I hope everyone enjoys this wonderful creation.
