Star217 - I hope you can get your wheel fixed soon and I love the look of Moody Blues.

Lufah - I'm looking forward to being able to weave especially for the quickness.  I have to stay with small projects for knitting due to how long it takes or else I lose interest. *glares at blue scarf sitting by the tv*

Guess what? I ordered a loom!  That urged me to get spinning so I'll have a ton of yarn to weave when it arrives.

So I give you Candyland, spun from roving dyed by Marion at Etsy.  It's 100 yards (actually 99, but close enough) and 2.7 oz.  I Navajo-plied it to keep the colors somewhat separate.  Love the effect, but it just eats up the yardage, Roll Eyes

It's been foggy all morning, so pardon the icky flash pic.
43  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Re: Thinking about buying a Beka Loom... Advice? on: February 29, 2008 04:03:46 PM
Thanks for replying!
I'm sure that I'll go with the 24" Beka and not the 10".  24" just seems like it has so much more possibility, you know?

I had to convince the family that the loom wouldn't take up a lot of space.  What with the drum carder and wheel + fiber I have started to taken over the living room.  Grin
44  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Thinking about buying a Beka Loom... Advice? on: February 28, 2008 08:33:31 PM
I saw that Star217 had a 10" Beka and looked it up.  It's inexpensive, so that's what draws me to it.  Then I saw Beka has a 24" loom that is only about $130.  Tempting! Can any of you Beka-owners add your thoughts?

I'm thinking that it would be better to see if I will stick with weaving before spending a ton of money on a bigger fancier loom.

(I found this site http://www.woolery.com/Pages/rigidheddle.html#beka)

Thanks!

I love how the ribbon looks!  And looks totally ready for the craft fair.  (Knit/woven scarves seem to be "in" now.  At least where I am)
You have inspired me to try kitchen-chair weaving.  I've been thinking about saving up for a loom but this will be great to get a feel for it.  On to the chairs! Grin

I've used both Manic Panic and Special Effects and they worked out great.
My hair didn't take the dye at first, but when I bleached it and it worked great.
Good luck!

The Quant looks so lovely in grey!
I have a ton of headbands and even a quant that I use to get away with the no-hat rule at my school.  With me, it's AP English that gets so very cold.  Wink

As always, everyone has magnificent yarn.
grayling40 - Treehouse is so amazing!

I only spun one yarn this week, but it was a totally new yarn.  One ply is merino that I got from copperpot, and the other ply is yak.  Yes, I said yak.  Kind of coarse, it worked perfectly with the merino. (The yak is the brown, by the way)

Thanks Lufah and CrochetNinja!
I've decided to use up some of my handspun by knitting headbands since my stash is getting *a little* out of hand.  And by a little I mean not being able to use my closet for clothes anymore.  Wink

Jazzybelle
- That Valentine yarn looks fun!

Here's my first is a looong time!  A scrap yarn, since I have been seeing amazing ones by all of you lately.  Only about 80 yards.  I got impatient to finish it.  Wink

And I knit it into a headband!  Love how it striped up.
