21  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Various stitches for rolled hemmer foot? on: June 20, 2006 10:14:26 PM
I just made my first successful rolled hem on a piece of scrap fabric with my new hemmer foot - yeah!

Now I'm wondering... can I use any other settings besides a straight stitch?  If anyone happens to be a costuming / SCA geek, I'm trying to be able to machine sew veils without it looking quite so machine-done - I am SOOOO tired of rolling hems by hand!

What do they look like? That'll make it easier to make recommendations...
23  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Persian Waxing on: June 19, 2006 08:46:46 PM
This sounds great - I'm very paranoid about burning, though... Does it matter what setting your stove is on when you boil it? Is there any way you can test it without burning your fingers or legs or.. wherever?

Thanks!

I'm SOOO psyched I can't wait to get enough cash to do this!  Of course, it's a cover job so I hope I CAN do this!  I mean I'm okay with what I have if I can't cover it, but it's not like I'm beaming with pride about it anymore, and it's just some a prime spot for a large tat and I am LOVING this idea.  All my other ideas I keep being indecisive about, not this one!

This is what I'm wanting to cover...

And this is what I'm wanting to cover it with, with some clean up on the color work and roots

The stars because I thought it would be great to get the main part of Orion, which always leaves me with a sense of peace and knowing that I'll be okay whenever I see it.  That of course would go beyond the design and the bottom two stars would wind up being around my lower back, but the idea is to get it done in UV so it really shines like the stars.

On another note, how cool would it be to get other things that glowed done in UV? Constellations, fireflies (or Firefly Tongue ) that door in the Lord of the Rings, the one ring, ooh! those bioluminescent fish, jellyfish...
27  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Foreign Exchange Swap? on: June 13, 2006 09:18:53 AM
People buy moose poop jewelry?  Well, I guess.. people did buy recycled elephant dung paper in Sri Lanka.  It was great, you could send someone a lovely card and then on the back mention "oh BTW, you've been holding elephant poop this whole time!"
28  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: TheZombified.com -- Opinions? on: June 10, 2006 05:25:21 AM
Looks great, my ONLY suggestion would be to widen the field there a bit, as there's a lot of empty space on the sides, but everything's very well organized and easy to navigate.  Great job!

BTW, are the t-shirts screened on the front or the back? Send me a message? I love the tree...
29  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: Wanna wear a halter, but... on: June 09, 2006 10:02:46 PM
Ever consider making your own strap to go on your convertible bra?  I know those straps they come with are pretty thin, but maybe you could do something in a curved wider piece of non-stretch fabric (I'm thinkin the width of the thin part of a tie?), get it to the right length and get some of those hook things to fit the bra, and just hook yourself in... that oughta be more comfy... Damn, I'm gonna have to get myself a convertible bra and try that now!

And bless you for not wanting to be so tacky as to just let the bra straps show, or thinking the clear straps make it look any better!   Grin

Doesn't acetone remove superglue as well?
