1  Make-up, clutch, anything goes case :: Russian doll Kawaii style in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by PerachYafeh on: July 30, 2009 07:43:59 AM

What a better excuse to make a cute little case than a friends birthday?  Well I had this excuse this week. I wanted to make a nice and reusable wrapping for a birthday gift.
For this project I used cotton canvas, cotton, zipper, inerfacing and crystal and Japanese glad beads. My goal was making a girly little case (but for a grown up). To give the very slick and simple case design a little humph, I added a nice colorful beading to the zipper head and also a hand painted Russian doll patch (the IT thing to have this days. Yeap I am hooked on Kawaii and Harajuku). The paisley purple linen is interfaced to keep the shape. I hope you like it! My friend did  Wink

As promissed...my Belissima bag!!!
Thirdy did an amazing job making me a dreamy blue set...Bag, tissue holder and a key ring!
Maggie generously provided the tissue too...so I knew what to use!!
Now dig the details here....fantastic embroidery (perfect & various stitches!), The button...super chic...matches the bag (fabric covered), lined bag with pockets (oh bless you child), key holder (how did you know I loose my keys?) and the sweet double sided handles. I can say one thing about this bag...It popped right of my dreams! I LOVE IT!!! Thirdy...you are the best...now I need one in pink, green and black. Grin Did I mention Thirdy used linen combine with blue/ocean/delicious perfect colors???

Details of swap:
Who doesn’t love a TOTE/BAG and  little surprises?! TOTE/BAG the ultimate accessory for the crafty YOU! For this swap we will be embroidering or cross-stitching a TOTE/BAG  , plus making a little something else. The TOTE/BAG can be sewed by you OR can be store bought (so more people that do not know how to sew/no time to sew could join us). So for this Swap 2 items will be made in total, but if you and your partner agree to do more that’s fine, just please make sure to communicate so you both end up happy with what you receive. Please do not go overboard. This is a relatively small swap, so we can have some quick and easy fun.

Rules and other info for this swap:
Once partners are assigned please post an update in this thread once a week. You don’t have to write more than your crafting progress (status 50%) or even just “checking in” if you don’t want to. People who post weekly are less likely to flake. DO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH THE THREAD AND YOUR PARTNER.

- One week before send-outs I will PM everyone to make sure everything’s going okay, see if you will be sending late, etc. If you will be sending late you MUST notify both me and your partner ahead!

- Delivery Confirmation must be purchased unless sending out of the country in which case you must get, and keep, a receipt. Please send me a picture of your receipt if you cannot do DC#s.

- When sending PMs please label them asETB Swap + TAG with one of the following tags:
Approval
Sent
Received
Question
* ETB (Embroided Tote/Bag!)

So when sending the questionnaire, the subject will read "ETBSwap - Approval". When notifying me about sending and receiving packages, add the corresponding tag. If you just have a general question label it as that. This will keep things organized for me. Please do not forget the tag.

- I will set up a gallery once the first person has shipped. Please post pictures when your package arrives. Your partner put a lot of work into crafting for you! They deserve a little recognition! I will not leave feedback until pictures are posted. It is always a good idea to take pictures of your package before you send just in case your partner doesn't have a camera or cannot post pictures for some reason.

- FEEDBACK FOR THIS SWAP! This is how it will be done:
Great swapper: for those who follow all the rules
Good/Poor communication:where applicable
Sent late/early: where applicable
Did not follow shipping rule: failed to comply with the shipping rules
Didn't post pictures: failed to post pictures of what they received without an adequate explanation to their partner

Swappers will receive temporary negative feedback if:
- it is one week past send-outs and you are out of communication.
- It is two weeks past send-outs and you have not yet sent, regardless of the communication with me and your partner.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer: NEWBIES ARE WELCOMED IN THIS SWAP! 1 month of membership + 15 posts required) Grin

7  Embroided TOTE Swap! in New Swap Theme Ideas by PerachYafeh on: April 13, 2009 10:48:32 AM
Hey everyone!

We are just finishing a great apron embroidery swap. What a great fun we had chatting, planing and learning from each other! The gallery just started and is already beautiful! Stop by! The gals have been doing a great job!

Now...as Great Domestic Divas (vos) we have to plan ahead for the next swap...so how about an Embroidery my tote! swap theme?
I have been talking to Barb (barbolot), you know the Master of pincushion swaps, and some ideas came to the table to talk to you all!  What do you all think about swapping an EMBROIDED TOTE + a little thing    Oh, when I mean embroidering an tote..you don't need to go berserk..It could be the pocket, a nice monogram with flowers. The tote could be made by you or bought..we will discuss that here. Getting a RTU tote include the gals (guys) that don't have that extra time or do not know (yet  Wink ) to sew! The apron swap inspired some gals to learn a new craft! Be quick..and spread the word!
What do you think about sign ups around May 1st and send outs at first week of June? A month to work on the project....and then get your brand new Embroided TOTE plus a little something else (maybe a matching towel, gloves, bandanna? )!! Strolling chik!! (yes with K) HAHHA.

We all be waitting to hear from you!!

Let's rock the side walks, malls, church, craft classes, the pool!!...

10  Simplicity 3673 :: Dress in Sewing Pattern Reviews by PerachYafeh on: March 28, 2009 07:44:36 PM

I had an incredible fun making this dress and I did not even have a mannequin to help with the fitting. I was doing everything in body (yes I pinned myself a few times).  I chose a linen blend for this project; the weight of this fabric permits me to use this dress at any season (keep this in mind while shopping for fabric). Since I made this dress in my spare time, I am not sure how long exactly it took me, but definitely not too much time. I took my time basting and pressing my dress parts and this pattern requires some dedication doing just that. It is worth every single stitch and finger burn you will get.
I am seriously thinking to use facing at the top part of simplicity 3673 next time. Lining can get pretty bulky depending on the fabric you are using. One more thing I might be considering next time is lowering the neck a bit. I am a little claustrophobic with high necklines, and this dress is pretty modest. I will definitely use the skirt stay and interfacing to keep the darts and waist in perfect shape (this was a note from Summerset in a superb comparison between the original pattern and the reissued one).  I will love trying to put the zipper on the side of my dress. I think it will be a big improvement, not counting an easy time putting the dress on!
I am wearing a petticoat to help out  Wink.
I hope you all like it. I will be glad to answer any questions if you have any  Grin (got more details in my blog too). Comments and suggestions will be loved!  Kiss
