1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: anthropologie deep winter mittens pattern on: September 11, 2006 03:32:30 AM
crazy -- I actually just made a pair of mittens and a pair of armwarmers that look very similar to these!  mine aren't buttoned together -- I made the armwarmers because I had leftover yarn from a scarf/mitten/hat set.  I used paton's aran-colored yarn.

I've been staying away from my sizzle and even this board after finishing mine a few weeks ago.  I'm just so frustrated with it.  Caribou, mine came out shorter than I expected, too.  and I had my usual fitting-in-the-bust-but-too-big-around-the-belly problem again.  ugh.  I'm tired of sweaters.

nice job -- impressive for a first project!  (you should have seen the misshapen scarf that was my first project...)
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What to do with very tiny yarn in very tiny skeins? on: August 11, 2006 10:28:35 AM
I know next to nothing about embroidery thread, but since perdita isn't really size based, I'm sure you could just use what you have without swatching.  I'd just keep an eye on the length as you go, though.

I finished my front piece last night!  I connected the shoulders and just have to do the seed stitch finishing and sew the thing together.  shockingly, it looks like it's going to fit and I think I might even have enough yarn to finish it!

the perdita cuffs in the summer knitty use embroidery thread... I made a couple and it is really tiny knitting, but they aren't huge, so it's not as bad as you'd imagine.

I hope you do write that pattern -- it's a really pretty sweater!

it would definitely make a big change in the look of the lace since the purling was used deliberately by the pattern's author.
