Ooh, I would so do this swap if it started in mid-March and the send-by date was mid-April!  I love Douglas Adams.

28  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Very Silly Hat on: February 10, 2008 10:17:26 PM
In my defense, this was the second thing I ever knitted, and the first ever in stockinette.  I'm pretty sure it's 3-4 years old by now, and I can knit much better (I hope) by now, buuut this hat is so silly I just had to share.  Grin

I decided that I wanted to knit a hat for my dad for Christmas---having no knowledge of knitting hats whatsoever, of course. XD  I decided to just make a square one.  I was going to make it longer, but I got impatient, LOL.  I think that's why it has ears.  I decided it was too silly to give to my dad, so I just kept it.  Surprisingly, it's pretty handy.  It folds up small enough to shove in any bag on the way out in case of a wind emergency.

Flat hat . . .

Becomes cat hat!
29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Gray Formal Dress on: February 10, 2008 09:54:38 PM
. . . Grey?  Gray?   Cheesy Oh well---either way, it's one of my favorite colors.  I made this dress for my senior prom, which was last May.  I didn't want to buy some gorgeous, floofy, super-expensive dress that I was never going to touch again, so after a lot of thinking, I decided I wanted to make my own dress, in a simpler style than what you usually see at a prom!  A lot of the inspiration for the silhouette came from vintage dresses I perused for hours on the computer.  Smiley  It's definitely something I would wear to another formal occasion.  I'm absolutely in love with the fabric; it's thick, smooth, and has a perfect weight.  It's some silk rayon blend, if I recall correctly.  Sadly, none of these pictures really do it justice, but they're the only ones I have right now.

The whole dress from the front.  The skirt isn't that wrinkled normally, I promise.  This was taken after a lot of dancing.

Close-up on the bodice.  I'm proud of those seams---I had never sewn anything curved before!

And the whole dress from the side.
I love this dress, which is good, because it was sooo much work.  My mom helped me a lot by showing me how to do things I hadn't learned yet (and putting in the zipper & hem herself, which is good, because they would have come out wonky if I'd done it).  I was pretty picky about the way I wanted it, so she also helped me draft the pattern.  It was definitely an ambitious project for the level I was at at the time, so it was great to be able to pester her to show me how to do something.  Grin  And now I'll never be scared to make skirts, dresses, or sew curves, because I definitely have those things DOWN after making this.
Thanks for looking!
30  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Teeth Earrings on: February 10, 2008 05:21:16 PM
Haha, I was thinking of doing these with mine.  These look pretty good!  I like how you matched the beads with the teeth XD.
