1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / lots of knitting links, pattern links- wanna contribute? on: December 24, 2008 02:09:32 PM
Hi all Smiley   I have started what is called a "lens" (or basically a website) that is dedicated to providing links and resources for knitters- patterns, links, websites and blogs.  I am also working on trying to create an Arts and Crafting therapy resource of links that everyone of all types can refer to and learn from, as well as contribute to!  So I am providing a link and I would love for you all to check it out, provide any suggestions, links and input... check it out and tell me what you think-- keep in mind that the ArtsnCrafts-therapy lens is contributing to a non-profit to end hunger.  http://www.squidoo.com/artsncrafts-therapy
I think it would be very great if we can all help each other with links, help spread the word and at the same time earn money for charity!  Also keep in mind that I just started this lens, and I really don't have any experience doing this- just a passion for arts, crafts, knitting, crochet, drawing and all things artsy and crafty Smiley (as well as a passion for helping people in any way that I can)  so any help, suggestions, resources, links or assistance you can provide will be appreciated by myself and everyone who will be using these links.

I'm also goin' to provide a link and mention the Knitting on the Internet, http://www.squidoo.com/Knitting-1 which has massive links for knitting websites, blogs and patterns.  I intend to keep up-dating both of these lenses so any suggestions, links, magazines, forums, new communities, books and blogs that you think belong there, please feel free to leave comments on the pages or through Craftster as well  Thank you so much!! Shelley

PS I just started a shop on Cafe Press, using my paintings and drawings for makin' tshirts, here's the link http://www.cafepress.com/staysik  I hope to get a scanner so I can get more of my drawings and paintings in digital format.  I have sketchbooks full of stuff waiting to be slapped onto a hoodie or shirt  Cheesy
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Stash-busting Poppy Sweater on: November 29, 2008 02:54:43 PM
This sweater is made of various cotton yarns, the biggest stash-busting project I've made so far. Its from a pattern called Poppy in "Yarnplay", which is an excellent book!!!  All I need to do is to figure out what color to to the neckline edging, and if I should do more than one row of hemline single-crochet edging, and in what color (I did black).  Also,if anyone has ideas or suggestions, let me know.... I was thinking I should try to incorporate some navy blue or black into the body or the sweater somehow (duplicate or slip stitch over?) but I dunno if that's necessary or not.  What do you'all think??

5  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / To Dye For sweater....in black (not dyed) on: July 21, 2008 03:11:24 PM
Here's pics of the To Dye For sweater from Stitch N Bitch, the original book.  I used Suss Mohair in black.  The sweater is really easy- the hardest part was seaming it.  Oh and getting all my jewelry hung up on it while I'm wearing it  Undecided   Here's the best I can do to show the texture and drape and all that stuff w/ the lame camera I have:

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Help me! Scarf or continue on 2 B shawl???? on: July 21, 2008 02:40:12 PM

Please give me your opinion.  I was going to make this into a scarf, but I have enough yarn & could even add more colors to make a shawl out of it.  So my question:  should I finish it as a scarf, or make it in2 a shawl??   And question 2: if I do continue on to make this in2 a shawl, should I add other colors, change the stripe sequence, or keep the colors and strips the same- or change one and not the other Smiley  ??  Thank you!

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Lace Halter top, knitted and crocheted on: July 16, 2008 04:44:02 PM

This started out as a swatch for a lace pattern- I think it was from the Yoga Bag in one on the SnB books- and I liked it so much that I ended up knitting a top for it, and crocheting the edgings and the ties, and flowers on the ties.  The back has a corset- tie- thing going on, but its hard to tell w/ the pics I have  Undecided  I'll try and add some more pics when I can.  The top part, or the "bra" part is knitted, then I just crochet edgings, and made crocheted ties until it fit just right.  Since I made it up as  I went along, there's no pattern for it.  Thanx 4 looking!  Smiley
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / The Bestest capelet in the world- "Chanson en Crochet" Link 2 free Pattern on: June 23, 2008 09:41:10 PM
Here's a link to the FREE Pattern- highly worth doing and it NEVER gets boring, but it isn't 2 hard 2 do either. http://www.interweave.com/knit/books/Wrap_Style/chanson_crochet.asp

I'm obviously a big fan of the pattern.  Here's a few pics, some not so good...
Here goes:

9  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Purple Sweet pea Shawl on: June 13, 2008 10:12:15 AM

I used mercerized cotton yarn from Elann. It took 6 ot 7 50 g. skeins. This was a really easy project and awesome for summer. Never though of myself as a shawl person....until I started knitting and crocheting again.   Cheesy This one's my favorite! I've made three cuz they make good gifts.  I like the purple one (and its mine) so I'm posting pics of it.  The other ones I did were black, and then black w/ a silver strand running through it.

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Cable hat w/ ear-flaps on: June 10, 2008 08:58:30 AM
Knit hat w/ cables, I used superwash wool, worsted wt., the pattern's from Not Your Mamma's Knitting BUT the pattern in the book I got had an error in it, and I couldn't find the errata- I checked the publisher and tried searching. But I figured it out, and it fits just fine. I wore it all winter  Smiley
