Oh, he's so cute!  I love him!   Cheesy
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Newbie Crocheter and Pain in Wrist on: August 07, 2006 08:56:52 AM
I get a lot of elbow pain when I crochet if I'm not careful.  If I support my elbow on the arm of a chair or the couch it doesn't hurt nearly as much and I can crochet a lot longer.
3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: My cute crocheted froggy whom I loved on: August 05, 2006 02:12:42 PM
I love the frog--he looks so relaxed.   Cheesy

I agree with MoxZ;  it definitely sounds like a good old-fashioned frognapping is in order.

Some amigurumi has hdc and dc, as well as scallops.  Amigurumi is fun to make!

Very true, but the straight sc are easier for a beginner.  At least they were for me.  Undecided
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to make crochet pieces stiff? on: August 05, 2006 12:55:39 PM
I like to use commercial stiffener for my crochet pieces.  I use Stiffy (hee hee)--it comes in a white bottle with a pink label and  you can dilute it to control how stiff it will make your work.  You can use glue thinned with water, but as time goes on it will usually turn yellow.  Sugar syrup will work but it gets sticky in high humidity and will wilt if it gets wet.  I've used a corn starch solution for doilies but it will also wilt if it gets wet.

Crochetme's Amigurumi dude is a very good intro to amigurumi.
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: I have a bunch of crochet 10 thread.. on: August 05, 2006 12:46:57 PM
With size 10 thread and a #5 hook you can make teeny little amigurumi.   Cheesy
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Books for noob crocheters? on: August 05, 2006 12:45:35 PM
Kids Crochet: Projects for Kids of All Ages has excellent instructions on single crochet, increasing, decreasing, etc.  It doesn't teach you how to do any double crochet, etc, but if you're mainly interested in amigurumi sc is all you need.  The patterns are sized for kids, but the pillows, bags, and toys are cute.

I love it!  I'd love to transform one of my brother's old ball caps like that, but I'm afraid he'd object... Roll Eyes

That's a great idea.  If I can only squeeze in some time after work.... Tongue
