1  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / penguin pair on: February 17, 2011 05:34:33 PM
Hi there!

I finished this pair just in time for Valentine's Day and was really excited to share them with everyone!  Grin These two are by far the most detailed lampworking creations I've ever made! I just love how their eyes came out...

2  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: elephanties! ***UPDATED*** on: January 01, 2010 01:37:04 PM
I love them...so cute.  Are they beads?
No, they're just mini statues.

Can they be done with a loop on top as a pendant?
You could put a loop, but I don't think they would make very good pendants since they're quite round and wouldn't lie flat when you wear it...I like to just have them sit at my desk with me. Smiley
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / fresh paint on: December 28, 2009 06:16:15 PM

wa-la!  Cheesy At first this looked like the painting below...it was okay, but I wasn't really feeling it so I never displayed it anywhere. So I slapped on so fresh paint and came up with the picture above! I like it a lot more...I plan to hang it in my friend's apartment where they have a purple living room theme going on. The paint is a lot more sparkly/metalic depending how the light hits it. Thanks for looking!
4  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: magnets for all! on: December 15, 2009 09:48:29 AM
Thanks for the positive comments everyone!
They are all quite adorable... I totally get the whole squirrel vs. avocado thing, my husband tries to grow them all the time but it never fails, as soon as he puts them outside the squirrels dig up the pit and run off it with, little jerks.
YES! I love it when people understand what jerks squirrels are! So many of my friends are just like ohhh but they're so cute!
5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / magnets for all! on: December 14, 2009 04:14:36 PM
I have made some of the most amazing friends this quarter and I wanted to make something personal for their Christmas present so I came up with these magnets!

For my friend from Hawaii (spam musubi and pineapple)

For my friend who loves strawberries and cats

For the aerospace major and chronic cookie muncher

For the rock climbing partner in crime who was a river rafting guide this summer

Close ups because I love this magnet so much

And for the professor who does research with avocados and hates squirrels who steals them!

I gave them their magnets already and they all loved them! One was even inspired to try using some polymer clay for the first time to make some presents for her family!
Happy Holidays!  Grin
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: nature woodsy inspired pmc collection! on: August 03, 2009 09:06:52 PM
Sorry, don't know any sites or books...I just look at other people's work.

It's not that pricey... paid about $39.15 for 28g which is pretty cheap! I'm only half way through my packet and made all that I posted and a little more. Cheaper than silver charms you can buy at stores!

@Hippie 9 well I would suggest if you're scared, you should definitely take a class or there's always the option of using a kiln... from my experience if you're jumpy, it's best not to experiment by yourself in case anything goes bad. But if you go the creme brulee torch route those are usually easier to use because the button has to be pushed down to remain on and there's usually a safety lock on it too! I would say it's the most controlled and least intimidating torch to use.

@craftylittlemonkey lol!! my bad. yes, precious metal clay. when you torch it, it's silver so it's pretty substantial granted it'll flex, bend and snap if you force it hard enough (but I assume you don't take out your aggression on jewelry haha Smiley). You just have to apply enough layers so that there's some thickness to it.

I don't know if OP used clay or paste, but if you use a silver paste, you can just paint layers on the back of a leaf.
If lemonyaura didn't do this, she must have the patience of a saint to draw all those intricate veins!

You're quite right! I used some left over silver clay that was dried out, added some water, mushed it together to be nice and thick then painted it on the leaves. The leaves burn off when you torch your piece. Smiley

Hi everybody!

I bought some pmc online and had to try it out! For some scale the little slab of wood is about 2 inches in diameter.

Fig leaf:

Key (cheaper than buying one from Tiffany's!)

Tiny happy accident (reminds me of a peach):

My absolute favorite:

Thanks for looking.  Grin

Oooooh my goodness!  There is a whole ellie family now!  Well now I like the FOUR together. Cheesy

ahaha, thank you, but don't say that! lol I'm trying to make sure they (and I) don't get too attached to each other!

GlassSpider, I hope you get your studio up and running soon too! 6 months is quite a while...at least I'll only have to endure 3 months this summer. I guess it creates time to explore new mediums. Cheesy
