HELP!! I couldn't resist any longer, I had to go to Michaels last night and buy a punch needle kit and tool (both manufactured by Dimensions). I went home and changed up the colors in the kit (while the colors were cute, they weren't exactly my style) and got to punching. I ran into several issues the largest of which was the tendency for the needle portion of the punch needle to push into the tube (instead of sticking out 1/2 inch or so the needle tip was just barely hanging out of the tube) - I had to continually pull the needle out (each time I put any sort of pressure on it to get it in the weave, the tip would sink back into the tube). I got frustrated and put it down after about an hour. Has anyone had any experience like this? If so, how did you remedy it?
My best friend, who was told she would never have kids of her own, found out (entirely by accident) that she's going to have a baby in June - - she wasn't growing out or anything but was feeling sick and by chance, the doc did an ultrasound and lo-and-behold, she's 6 months along! SURPRISE!!
At any rate, I got a super deal on some vinyl backed bibs at target (10 for $9) and tried stitching one up the other night. Problem #1 - the heat from the iron caused the vinyl to bubble up a bit - didn't melt but it definately didn't like the heat. Problem #2 - when going through the vinyl in the back, I noticed that sometimes it wasn't smooth but almost tore the vinyl. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with stitching on these? I want to make her a basketful of goodies (already knitting a baby sweater too).
Hi all! I am new to this board - and actually new to embroidery as well. I am a knitter, a spinner, a jewelry maker and a photographer so I've done it all! I bought the kit last night @ Barnes and Noble and then ordered four of the kits online at SS this morning - I'm jumping in head first!! Any advice/encouragement for a newbie is much appreciated - I just love everything I've seen on the SS site and can't wait to get started.
I am hoping to get a rigid heddle loom for my birthday in May but was wondering what the best one was? There are so many to choose from and I just don't know where to begin. I am a new weaver so this is all greek to me at this point! Thanks so much in advance!
