you can never have too many pretty pillows. i love that padded headboard too!!! did you make that?

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My new-old chair on: February 25, 2008 10:28:00 PM
I got this chair on Craigslist ages ago, and it's been chilling under a big blanket.

It was bright, Smurf blue with a few tears (which my cat soon turned into many tears).

And last weekend, I finally re-covered it!

I accidentally erased the before pics. Just imagine bright, BRIGHT blue in bad shape.

I used some stretchy crushed velvet to cover it. The fabric worked great when it came to covering the chair. It was less easy when I had to sew a new cushion cover.

Hope you like it.  Grin

This weekend was all about craft projects.  Grin

I finally made the throw pillows and pillow cases I wanted. I found this neat floral fabric at Jo-Ann's on sale. The dark red fabric is a soft flannel.

Hope you like them.

Great Magnets!
I love hedwig too!  Its my user name on yahoo! ha!!  Watched the film i think about 30 times one summer.. on vhs! ha!! My youngest son was just over a year old.. i was depressed and Hedwig was the only thing that could cheer me up!  just bought the d.v.d for a couple of bucks in Nov finally!  sorry this comment isnt to crafty but I am in my 40's and none of my friends have watched the movie.  Not interested..
  Anyways thats MY comment!
Well done!

It's one of my favorite movies of all time. I also got to see the stage play in Chicago. It was AWESOME!

I'm glad you love Hedwig as much as I do, Fair Weather. If any of you haven't seen this movie, go out and watch it now. You will not be disappointed.  Grin

I made another apron for a friend for Christmas.

I used the same pattern I used on the last apron post of mine: www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=214778.msg2309804#msg2309804.

The material is a thick cotton. I added some pink and brown ribbon at the bottom and on the pocket and put her initials -- SMEC -- on the pocket.

Here it is, modeled by its new owner. She seemed to like it.  Grin

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / I love Hedwig! on: January 07, 2008 10:24:04 PM
I gave my friend Hedwig and the Angry Inch for Christmas.

We always try to make something handmade for each other for Christmas, so I made her some Hedwig wig magnets!

I drew the design, cut it out of cardboard, covered it in yellow material, put on some backing, put on two magnets and then drew on the black hair marks with a Sharpie.

I think I might make some magnets out of the two half faces you see in "Origin of Love" and at the end of the movie.

Anyway...I hope you like! And I encourage any comments.

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Nifty apron!!! on: December 18, 2007 07:01:50 PM
One of my closest friends wanted a pink and black apron for Christmas, and voila, that's what she got!

I followed the See & Sew B4585 apron pattern: www.butterick.com/item/B4585.htm?tab=yes_its_easy_see_sew&page=9.

Once I got past the initial "OK, what the heck does that mean?" feeling this is my first sewing project that's not a pillow or blanket or something rectangular-shaped it was easy to put together.

The fabric is cotton duck, with ribbon on the bottom, straps and pocket.

Her initials:

Some quick modeling before she came to pick it up:

She really liked it! I hope you do too.

Happy holidays!

oh my word that frame! Where did you get it? I've been desperately looking for gold framed paintings at my goodwill and salvation army but I live in a tiny town so it's very unlikely.

I've been wanting to do this. I'd just need a wall to hang it on lol

I got the frame off a Freecycle-type site. So I didn't even have to pay for it! It was such a lucky find.  Grin

I love the white frames with black words. Did you make them? If not, where did you get them? Very cool.
