1  My first dress! It's a Triumph! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lars the pirate on: July 14, 2010 12:59:48 PM
This is the first dress I have ever made.

I've had that fabric (entire bolt, thank you $1/yd walmart section) for quite some time now, and finally did something with it, instead of just thinking of possible ways to use it. Smiley

I actually made this about a month or so ago but have been busy busy lately. But here it is.

I didn't use a pattern and it doesn't have a zipper (yet). I'd like to state that my first attempt/planning at making a circle skirt made me so infuriated (bc the bolt wasn't wide enough for the length I wanted) I had to step back from it for a bit. Then second go, I did a half circle skirt and it came out well. I believe it only took maybe 2 hours to do.

The fabric has little skulls, lightning bolts, stars and the filigree like bandanas. Smiley
I love it. and finally wore it out the other night...paired with sheer/black tiger striped tights and chucks. haha.

ta-da!

2  Rock & Roll Swallow Vans! in Shoes: Completed Projects by lars the pirate on: February 14, 2008 07:41:15 PM
My friend's birthday was nearing and i had an idea in my head that i wanted to paint him some slip-on vans. i couldn't afford to buy brand new ones. but then i found out from a friend what his size was. amazingly enough, i had a pair already in that size! i hadn't worn them in a couple years and they were in pretty good condition. hello recycle!

i scrubbed them with a toothbrush, soap and water the best i could. painted over the black and white checkered part with black and repainted where it was white.

then sketched on the design with chalk/colored pencils. then painted away.

after, i sealed them with kiwi boot protector stuff.

i mailed them to my buddy out in cali. he loves them! i was so excited. and he said they fit perfect.

he then texted me the next day and asked if he bought a pair of plain shoes, if i'd paint them for him. i'm stoked.

(there were also a small white anchor on the back of each one, but somehow, a picture of them eluded me.

3  Holy Batman! I sacrificed my sheet... in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lars the pirate on: November 12, 2007 08:40:51 PM
so i'm making some friends of mine jackets. (at least i hope to get them done before the shows.)

this one is for my comic book loving friend Brian.

i decided to sacrifice my fitted Batman sheet to make him this jacket.

it's lined, has cuffs, zipper, pockets and pull string in the hood.

enjoy <3

4  Anchors Aweigh! (jacket) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lars the pirate on: September 13, 2007 12:35:13 AM
So, in my last post when i made a jacket from a checkered bed sheet i mentioned making my buddy Luis a jacket.

this is completely from scratch, lined, band, cuffs, (lined) pockets, zipper, lined hood, etc.

both main anchor material and lining (which was a dark blue to match the anchors and banding) have some stretch which makes it that much better, haha.

it turned out so great, and he LOVES IT!

i actually finished and sent this to him about a week and a half ago, but i've been busy/lazy so i'm just now putting it up. haha

and i realize that i didn't take any shots of the lining....oh well.

enjoy.

AND!

Luis in the jacket! Smiley Smiley Smiley

and it fits him "like a glove". the sleeves seemed a bit short-ish on me, but that's because i have...long arms. or what Luis refers to as "monkey arms" haha. so they're perfect length on him. woo!

5  checkerboard bedsheet to jacket/zip hoodie. <3! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lars the pirate on: August 24, 2007 11:19:50 PM
this is my first jacket to make from scratch (i call it that since a bedsheet is more or less just a big piece of material)

i used gnacissej 's tutorial kinda loosely. some things went a slight bit different (i.e. method of assembly) haha.

i enjoy it more now than i did while making it. i had a few thoughts that i wouldn't like it. but alas, it grew on me and looks better than it did. Smiley

oh, AND this is my first use of a zipper foot. which i LOVE by the way. Smiley

enjoy!

now to make those jackets for me and my bud Luis. huzzah! <3!!!

7  Kick the beat so you can grind on the floor in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lars the pirate on: January 12, 2007 10:42:22 PM
so. at a suburban legends show about 2 1/2 years ago i bought one of their shirts. but didn't unroll it until i got home. turns out one of the guys gave me a Youth Medium by accident.

i've been wanting to recon it for a while but was afraid because i didn't want to ruin it.

finally. i did something with it. and a plain red tshirt.

i don't know if i'm going to put trim on the collar. i kind of like it how it is. there's black banding on the sleeves.
you can see if for the most part.  Grin

the result...

naked foot!

"special" me

sorry if the photos are huge.....

thanks for looking!

9  Stripes and lack of sleep in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lars the pirate on: October 26, 2006 05:34:21 PM
Okay, the other night I bought some of this pale yellow and dull blue striped fabric and wanted to make a shirt. After I started, the next night I kept on it and because of excitement, I couldn't stop until I was finished.

well, i left the neckline alone because I kind of like the way it ended up. so other than hemming a few bits, it's done. woo!

this is my first official post here on craftster and first piece of clothing made completely from scratch. go me. (but not my first time making something.  Tongue)
