1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Question about Baby Blanket Pattern - knitting in strips? on: April 20, 2005 10:50:10 AM
Is there any reason why this would HAVE to be knit in strips? Couldn't I just cast on 7x the number of stitches is suggests and knit the pattern over and over again?  (assuming I had long enough circs)

http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/projects/baby.html

I want to make this for my friend's baby shower in ten days, but i know my "sewing together" skills are not so much rockin', and it goes faster if I can just keep going and going.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First projects - Baby jacket & scarf on: August 15, 2004 08:40:36 PM
Finally got the camera working so I can document that I FINISHED something!!  Hooray!!

So, ignoring the halter top I made for my daughter and never put straps on (it was too small/revealing), here are my first and second finished projects.

As the baby for the jacket is unborn, my son's old teddy bear had to step in and do modeling duty...

and from the side

And since he was already working it, I let him model the scarf as well (anything to avoid having my picture taken!)

Anyway, I hope you like them. I am so excited just to finish something!!! (Though I HAVE to finish my current project - a scarf for the Scarf Swap - pronto!)

The jacket is a Lion Brand pattern (Hooded Baby Poncho) made with their now discontinued TerrySpun, which although I have 6.5 more skeins I will never EVER use again. (Grrr - the terry loops unravel in the center of the skein and leave you with kinky floss). The scarf is a bastardized garter stitch(I didn't know any better and did all my knit stitches through the back of the loop) in some awfully expensive yarn they suckered me into at the LYS because I asked for chunky. (It was my first yarn purchase ever...)
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Need Poncho Pattern on: August 11, 2004 11:52:39 AM
I would really like to make a poncho like this one

Does anyone know of a similar pattern? I've googled for cable poncho and come up with nothing similar, and I checked the faerycrafty blog list, but no dice.

I would really, really appreciate it!!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / GGH Celine - project ideas? on: April 19, 2004 03:18:09 PM
I just bought 4 skeins of GGH Celine on ebay, with - of course - no project in mind for them. I really like it (it's a tape with fuzzies on the edges) and am itching to do something (small) with it.....

Any suggestions?
