1  Illinois / Illinois: North / Re: Cool Chicago Crafter Peeps wanna get together? on: September 23, 2007 08:21:07 PM
I'm also new to Chicago, and seeking to re-build my social circle. I'd totally go to the Pilsen Art Walk, but i'm out of town for the weekend.

Maybe there can be a meet-up arranged if enough bodies are interested?
I live in West Town btw.
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: My first hidden compartment book! on: November 20, 2006 09:53:47 AM
Here is the result of my work!
My boyfriend really loves it, and uses it ALL THE TIME! It is a super great gift for boyfriends or brothers who are hard to get stuff for.

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Nintendo Wii ideas on: November 19, 2006 10:00:00 PM
I sat with my brother and boyfriend for 10 hours to get one last night!
hmm... a felted cozy would be cool.
Or even a bag that had special pockets for the nun-chucks and controllers and games so that you could transport it to friends homes.
You could make a Wii care package, and put some extra batteries in there for the controllers!
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: THE GENERIC BOYFRIEND GIFT THREAD: A How-To! on: November 19, 2006 09:54:47 PM
This thread is so long there's no way i can look through the whole thing! But, I'm going to say that my Secret compartment book I made for my boyfriend last valentine's day was a huge success.
I found an old book on greek plays at a used book store, and followed some of the tutorial pages that you can find using the search. I put some felt on the bottom to make it more classy, and then posted a picture of his favorite philosopher, Jon Locke, in the front (he has a philosophy degree). This is a cool gift for siblings, or even someone you don't know well, just cause it's so rad.
Here are some pics:

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: sparkley blue leopard print skirt! on: November 10, 2006 04:32:20 PM
i concur with the idea of more ruffles... but i would keep them in the blue leopard print. This is a racy skirt thats gonna get you some looks!

7  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: First Timers Swap, Sign up CLOSED, Sendouts 11/11 on: November 05, 2006 06:07:41 PM
I might also be at the last minute... I finished my largest item today, and have some small ones to do this week. But this is just to let you know that things are in action, and i've been in contact with my partner regularly. Can't wait to see the results!
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: Vintage Night on: October 28, 2006 10:14:12 AM
First, I like the record player idea. But changing records can get really tedious, so if you want to enjoy yourself make sure there is someone designated to switch the records. There are tons of records of $1 at thrift stores, and even piles in record stores, where you could find appropriate ones to match your theme.
If you are going to 50s vintage, a fondu pot would be a good appetizer to have also.
Your ideas so far are awesome! post some pictures when the final event actually happens!
9  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Teeny Tiny Digital Cameras on: October 28, 2006 10:07:24 AM
wait a sec- can these function as real cameras? My room mate bought a small $10 camera from a store that takes really funky digital photos, which reminded me of these.
if not, they are still cute.
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: skirt with *questionably awesome* fabric: yay or nay? on: October 27, 2006 10:36:42 AM
your mom and her friends are wrong. the fabric looks great. It is the type of look that is only really appropriate once in a while, so don't fret too much about the lazy sewing job you did. As far as i can tell, it looks more than acceptable. bravo!  keep trusting your instincts.
