1  Asymmetrical Skirt in Sewing Pattern Reviews by Valoir on: November 01, 2005 07:45:54 AM
I thought I would post a photo of my recently completed skirt from the September 2005 Burda World of Fashion magazine #121.  It is pretty simple, only a few pattern pieces, but the waist band is a little tricky to understand.  It is a fun style and I get lots of compliments because it is so unique.

2  Dress into great skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Valoir on: October 11, 2005 12:18:24 PM
This used to be my favorite dress since about 1993.
The neckline had gotten pretty much stretched out and was a bit compromising, so I made it into this great skirt with the help of Vogue Adri pattern # 2817

It's cool, no?

3  Re: Precious Metal Clay in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by Valoir on: September 27, 2005 09:08:13 AM
I work with it all the time.  I do have a kiln and find that to give me more consistent results than torch firing.  I also have metalsmith training and worked as a jewelry designer for a custom jewelry.  I only mention that because I think all of the knowledge adds to getting good results with the silver clay.
Check my website: www.valoirdesigns.com.  I was also on crafters-coast to coast - the episode just repeated last week, if you can get ahold of that it shows how to set a gemstone and torch firing.

Here are some images of my first creations, from about 3 years ago:

4  Cakes to Dream On in Party Planning by Valoir on: September 23, 2005 06:53:28 AM
I wanted to share a photo of the cake I made my mom for her birthday.  It is inspired by the book Cakes to Dream on by Colette Peters.  Her cakes would be suitable for many different themes.  I borrowed the book from my local library.

5  Re: My Very Cherry Jordy Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Valoir on: August 15, 2005 06:32:51 AM
I loved this cherry purse and here is my version.  I tried a bunch of new things that I have been wanting to try - I silkscreened the patch using Photo EZ (will post a tutorial soon) and I embellished the fabric.  I made the button out pf polymer clay.

I just don't have enough time to create all these amazing things in my mind's eye!

6  Re: making the dress in Weddings and Bridal Showers by Valoir on: May 17, 2005 06:46:37 AM
Well, I did it!  I got married AND I made the dress.  I went with the Vogue 7387 (view C), which is a bias cut gown.  This was a lot of work, but it was worth it.

8  My Sophie felted purse in Knitting: Completed Projects by Valoir on: October 20, 2004 07:56:37 AM
This is my own funked up version of the elegant Sophie bag from Mag Knits. I used two colors of Cascade 220, and found a lone ball of coordinating eyelash/pompon yarn at my Local Yarn Store.  I changed the pattern by adding handles from Joanns and adding the lining.  It felted beautifully.  My friend received it for her 30th birthday and she was thrilled.  I estimate this took me 8 hours. (I am a slow knitter)  The yarn used was $10.

here is the link to the Sophie Bag

Have fun!!!
