221  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Good Bye/ I eat You -type present needed on: August 11, 2004 10:28:12 PM
One present I gave my boyfriend that was sappy, yet uber cool, was a shadow box.  You could put just about anything in them.  For mine I just took a picture of us that I really liked and drew it myself with colored pencils.  I mounted it on the back of the shadow box with those little foam double stick things(in scrapbooking isle at Hobby Lobby or wherever).  I put silver confetti hearts in the bottom and that long wirey stuff with hearts hanging off around the outside.  I closed it up and used that "rub-on etching" stuff to put our names on the front.  The drawing took me the longest and that was only a couple of hours.  I'm going to try an post a picture of it soon...I had one on this computer, but then it crashed.  Hope that helps.

Oh, and the box of kisses thing is really cute.  Michael once gave me a jar of kisses.  He cut little lips out of construction paper in pink and red and decorated the outsie of a jar with them and them filled a jar with the rest.  He's not at all crafty, and it turned out really cute, so if he can do it...

The matzah ball soup in a cup = le suck.  While cute and convienient it tastes like crap.  Nothing like my bubbie's!

sorry, only kind of on subject.

Inside the lunchboxes you could just load em up on personal school supplies.  Collage the front of a mini notebook with "frat/sorority" stuff.  Wrap bic pens in different colored embroidery floss and glue down the ends.  Buy a cheapy calculator and glue rhinestones to the back.  Just go to like the little back to school bargains stuff at Wal-Mart, buy some cheap plain stuff and spice it up with stickers, ribbons, glitter, etc.  No matter how old you are...you can always use a lunchbox. I'm thinking that if you use Acid free laminating paper on the picture itself to protect it you could just use clear packing tape around the edges and wrap them to the inside of the cover to attach it.  Does that make sense?

HOw about a furry white rug...like the really long ones.  They kinda look like polar bears.  You could make your own coffee table with an organic shape or something almost boomerang like.  Or you could look for one, but the ones I've seen in vintage furniture shops are pretty pricey.  You could put fring at the bottom of a lamp shade with sequin trim to cover the seam.  Or you could even get a leg lamp like the one from "A Christmas Story".  I swear I just saw one on e-bay.  I also think that big overstuffed throw pillows in blacks and pinks would be really cool.  Wow...this is turning into my fantasy room! Grin  You could put floating candles in martini glasses on shelves hung at different levels. And a neon sign would be cool.  My boyfriend just got me a pink "Bada Bing" neon sign with the naked chick just like sopranos.  I was oogling over a huge one that was just way to expensive...I don't know where he found this one, but it kinda fits your theme.  ::shrug::
226  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Birth control pill wallet on: August 09, 2004 10:47:54 PM
Perhaps you could attach them to a covered cork board.  hmmm...like I'm thinking sew them on to a fabric open so it's like just a little pocket in a grid pile of flesh and use that fabric to cover a piece of cork.  You could store rubberbands, paperclips, extra staples, a small notepad, mini magazine clippings, etc in them.  Or you could store jewelry in them...still on the board though.  Hey, that's a pretty good idea!

Mine is a stupid nickname my friend Abby gave me in the fifth grade.  She is the only one that calls me that.  My given name is Alix.  Fortunately, I do eat.

I was going to do each one personal.  To save time and money I was going to have a couple of general squares made up like with the sorority letters, symbols, colors, and stuff.  Also, if people wanted their own pictures they would have to scan and crop them and either e-mail them to me or give them to me on a CD.  This way I don't have to photoshop other people's pictures forever.  Thanks for the reply!
