1  Re: Show Off Your Hair--Dyed, Cut, or Styled by Yourself! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by alixianervosa on: June 06, 2013 08:26:05 AM
Other looks I have given myself in the last year:

Last summer I bleached the front/side of my hair and went with a few different ombre combinations

Then one night I decided I wanted bangs

Then I made those bangs platinum

Then I let everything grow out for a while and then I had it done a red that I thought was going to be super intense, but it wasn't so I bleached and colored it red myself...as seen in my previous post.

I fulfilled the dreams of 5 year old me by giving myself Ariel hair.

I bleached to about a 7 (I had previously had it dyed a more tame red, so there was still a peachy tinge) and then used ion brights red mixed with a *touch* of magenta.

Now I kinda want extensions in  the same color.

5  Sesame Street themed gift (slightly image heavy) in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by alixianervosa on: May 29, 2013 12:29:11 PM
I'm big on gender neutrality when giving baby gifts.  So when one of my best friends from college told me he and his wife were expecting, I headed straight to the fabric store.  Originally I was in search of Longhorn fabric...but I live in Illinois, not Texas, so it's not so easy to come by.  I picked out all sorts of stuff...and then I saw all of the Sesame Street fabric and fell in love with it.

I made a snuggle blanket based on Amy Butler's snuggle blanket (but, like the last time I made it, I eliminated the belt), three burp cloths, and my first taggie blanket!  So much fun!

All wrapped up and ready to send:

6  Getting better at sugar spun nails just in time for football season! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by alixianervosa on: September 11, 2012 08:22:53 AM
Bought an actual dotting tool and made a second attempt at the spun sugar technique...this time in Bears colors! (Zoya Indigo and Essie...something I can't remember)

It's my birthday today and I'm trying to decide what to do to my nails for my night out on Saturday.  This is proving very difficult.

7  Lots of pictures of my nails...with polish and stuff! Image Obese in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by alixianervosa on: August 01, 2012 11:06:22 AM
I did all of these myself except for the pink/silver holo nails.  I use an opened bobby pin as a dotting tool and often take pictures before I clean up the cuticles.  I have listed the polish names/brands where I can remember them.

This is my nail polish collection (there are a few more now):

This is the one I didn't do myself...and it's on acrylics which I never have because I'm awful at keeping them up.  Zoya Tobey and Color Club Worth The Risque

First attempt at a gradient.  The purple is Zoya Hope, glitter/stars Klean Color Silver Star (the Klean Color jelly glitter are gorgeous, but are goopy and never dry completely or well.

Obnoxious 4th of July nails.  Sinful Colors are the white and blue.  Klean Color Silver Star.  Zoya America is the red.

Zoya Tobey and Hope (I think)

OPI Strawberried in the Sand and Zoya Indigo.  The heart is from a Klean Color jelly glitter.

China Glaze Flyin' High and Essie Fear or Desire

My version (on the left) of a design I saw on Pinterest (on the right)...I will link the original image if I find it.  I don't like my version much.  Worth trying again, though.

Zoya Phobe (blue matte) and Mitzi (matte green) alone and then with Klean Color Silver Star

Zoya Robyn(light blue), Luna(silver) and Indigo (navy - it has multicolored micro glitter in it)

Papaya Punch by China Glaze and Paz by Zoya

St. Patrick's Day.  Zoya Ivanka and OPI Need Sunglasses

Deathly Hallows Zoya Luna and Zoya Raven and a silver nail art pen

First attempt at the spun sugar technique for the rainbow...obviously I need practice.  Lots of colors!

Well, there it is.  Maybe I'll buy an actual dotting tool eventually.

8  Monster Windows! in Halloween Decor and Parties by alixianervosa on: January 26, 2012 11:23:26 AM
My idea came from here http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/kzb1v/my_friends_just_moved_they_decided_to_use_all/ via here http://ianbrooks.me/post/11033327010/halloween-house-made-by

I loved this idea.  I only have three windows that face the street...but I figured I'd give it a go!  I used black foam board, tissue paper, contact paper and an exacto knife and circle cutter.

This is a crappy shot from the street on a phone that doesn't zoom enough to compensate for the fact that I live on the third floor:

You can see I did little extra eyes.  It wasn't that impressive from three floors down...but oh well!

Each monster up close and during the day:

10  Soupapalooza! in Recipes and Cooking Tips by alixianervosa on: January 26, 2012 11:01:43 AM
A few weeks ago I came across this http://www.hellobrit.com/food/12-healthy-soups-to-warm-you-up-all-winter-long/

A couple Sundays ago, in just about 5 hours, I made five of those soups.

1. Creamy White Bean Soup (I used turkey bacon)

2. Roasted Squash and Pear Soup with Brie (probably the least healthy)

3. Fresh Greek Lentil Soup

4. Beet and Fennel Soup with Greek Yogurt (two grocery stores I went to only had flavored kefir, but greek yogurt works just fine!)

5. Roasted Garlic Broccoli Soup

All in the freezer:

I made 35 small containers (plus a little extra of the squash and Greek lentil soups).  I gave one container of each kind to my neighbor and one of each to my mom.  Still enough soup for me for a month!
