1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Earth and Plantary Science Swap!!! on: June 01, 2006 12:53:45 AM
I went back a few pages and couldn't find a gallery already established for this swap, so I hope I'm not double posting. I couldn't wait to share what I got in the mail today!
I GOT A PACKAGE FROM NIKKI/PTARMIC WUMPUS!!!
Every single thing is so great, I am still just in awe. Here is an open letter to Nikki, a meteorolgist by trade, so you can all know how truly perfect this stuff is, along with some photos.
NIKKI - Thank you so, so much! I just LOVE everything. I must say, a) did I even mention that I am a philatelist? With a name like Ptarmic Wumpus, I surely don't need to tell you what that means, but you must know how much I EXTRA love the framed art with the "shiny bits" from your garden.

And the rocks so remind me of Sedona, which is a pretty special place for me. I'm fairly certain they are somewhere in AZ, anyway, or Utah. But I will have to investigate for sure - I can't wait to find the real them. That's such a great excuse for a road trip.  So, yeah, wow, I am so thrilled with everything, really. I MUST learn to felt. It seems like such a fun, free art to do. I so love the idea of sculpting a scene, like in your felt interpretation of the photo!!!. Let me reiterate. !!!

I don't think it could have gotten much more perfect, to be honest. I could just cry, I love it that much. And the tote. My dear lord.

It is so me you don't even know! It kicks serious ass, and the fact that you GOT the tote from an AMS convention - how cool is that???
And how about my GARLAND OF FELTED PALEOEARTHS WITH WITH THE RIBBONS PRINTED WITH EACH EARTH'S AGE!!!

I really just can't say enough about how amazing this whole swap experience has been for me. I cannot wait for you to get your package!!! YOU FRICKIN ROCK!!! I just used triple exclamation points TWICE, so you know how excited I am.   Kiss
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Junk Market Style - New Magazine? on: May 10, 2006 04:37:59 PM
Hi guys! I'm still pretty new here, but having a wonderful time. I wasn't sure of the best place to put this info, but you guys seemed like the type who might be into this magazine i picked up at the grocery store the other day. It's called Junk Market Style and it says "Premier Issue," but it looks more like one of those "special interest publications" so...I dunno. But I do know that it kicks ass! I am a swap meet fiend (or flea market or whatever you happen to call it). Usually in these types of magazines they show either ugly or unclever ideas for decorating, for the most part anyway, but this one had more great ideas in one place than I've ever seen (besides Craftster, of course). Has anyone else seen it? They've also got a website, www.JunkMarketStyle .com, but I've only just browsed it so far. It looks like they've got project ideas and a book, too. And some pretty cute clothes for junk-lovers. Anyway, just thought I'd share!
