My boyfriend is a huge fan of Labyrinth. He can recite pretty much the whole movie. I love that about him. He's always wanted to be Jareth, David Bowie's character from the movie for Halloween. This year, we made it happen. I decided to be Sarah from the ballroom scene where she wears that hot silvery/white ball gown. I've never made anything like this before, but I like a challenge!

This is the final product. Totally made by me, except for the necklace.
And below is the inspiration dress from the movie.

I made the necklace that Jareth wears out of Fimo clay, but didn't take any close-up shots! That's the only thing handmade on my boyfriend's costume. I just want to show him off because he's cute.

Here's a dramatic action shot of sewing the silver material. I had to use a permanent marker because the fabric pencil wouldn't work.

Here's a confusing shot of tulle and elastic on the skirt.

This is the silvery stuff that went on my hair. Wired ribbon, hot glued Christmas silver things and tons of bobby pins. Seriously, tons.

I made the dress in three detachable parts: skirt, bodice, and poofy sleeves. The sleeves stayed on with the application of snaps on the bodice. Well, sorta. I was glad to be able to remove them half-way through our friend's party. I made a few "sleeve-in-the-onion-dip" blunders!
It was also the first time I used eyelets to create a corset-type closure on the back of the dress. I wasn't very fond of how it looked, so there are no photos of the back. Ha!
Anyway, we got a lot of nice comments about our costumes. Here's a gratuitous shot of David Bowie being hot:

Thank you for looking! I hope it put a smile on your face! (Sorry if some of the photos are sideways. I thought I fixed them, but I guess not!)
